Re: Cure for JA Blues?
I know how you are feeling, I felt the same way you are feeling after my first trip. I started a count down on my calendar for the next trip. That was good advice damswell but you forgot to tell her to make sure it's Jamaican Rum.

Re: Cure for JA Blues?
I figured out Jamaica is an addictive drug that you don't want to stop. Fresh air, clear blue water, mamosa's, tanning sunshine, jerk chicken, friend plantain, beef patties, blessed people, calaloo, and the list never ends. Man now I'm having Jamaica blues and I ain't going back until June 07

Re: Cure for JA Blues?
I think my "funk" has been worsened by the Ackee article I posted. I ate ackee and saltfish for the first time last month, and yesterday -- I realized I was craving it! I'm also craving the music, the water, the people, and the "high" I get when I'm in JA. I'm listening to Beenie Man here at work and I keep pulling up my thread from the trip and staring at all my pictures -- missing everything. Okay, I'm near tears. I think I need to go home now before my employees see me blubbering my JA blue tears.

Re: Cure for JA Blues?
I always thought it was JA too; but it is more then that for me. Jomo, here, with me, cured me for now. I only miss my friends, at this point, and calling them cures that too.

Re: Cure for JA Blues?
I was hoping you would post in this thread Jomo's Girl. You always have such good insight. I'm glad Jomo is there with you now. I'm happy for you and he. So -- perhaps I'm missing somebody and not just JA? Hhhmmm. I'll have to think about that.

Re: Cure for JA Blues?
Im with JG - I don't miss JA any longer, initially 6 years ago, I missed it so much mainly because of Rupert, but it has actually (truth be told) 4 years since I have been to the island, but things don't change much there. Even when Rupert went twice in the last 4 months I wanted to go but becasue I knew he was coming back, I can wait to get my fill in Dec for 4 weeks now.

Re: Cure for JA Blues?
I appreciate beauty everywhere. Lately, I tend to notice more and more the beauty in my every day life.
I love Jamiaca. Always will. Don't feel the need to go anywhere else, internationally, right now. Missing some of the atmosphere. Missing the food. Missing the music. Missing some of the people. Just being honest.......all the time I was thinking I was missing Jamiaca, I was missing Jomo's part in it mostly. |
