I was just wondering if anyone has flown Spirit? The have some cheap tickets to JA from Florida and wondering what they are like? Any feedback would be graetful. Im a nervous flyer so any info is great.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

I have looked into them several times because they offer such terrific fares. Never worked for me from St. Louis cause the connecting flights never quite worked out for me.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

There prices are great, and seeing as we have to get to Ja relatively fast even if we made a mini vacation out of it, it is still cheaper to go down there and spend a day or two then go to JA. I found $74 each way from Fort Lauderdale.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

They just sent me $16 each way. It is the Spirit 16th Anniversary sale. Seriously, get on their e-mails and travelzoo.com's e-mails. Great deals if they are timed right for you.

I'm looking into a Chicago trip for me, Jomo, and my daughter in October. Funny thing is, I am having better luck with a JA trip then. Too bad Jomo can't leave the country or we'd scoop that up.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

From all I've read from Urban & JC, I don't envy you Canadians at all as far as airlines go.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

Hi all . . . I just returned from MoBay last night and flew Spirit. I was a bit leary with Spirit not having known anybody who had flown with them, but my roundtrip was only $245 -- so I decided to risk it. I wasn't at all disappointed. In fact, I was quite pleased!!!! I left Orlando on Friday 8/18 -- 10 minute delay with takeoff due to issues on the ground in Ft. Lauderdale (where my connection was), but otherwise, connecting flight was timely -- and I arrived in MoBay at 12:45 (as planned). Leaving yesterday . . . same thing. NO PROBLEMS! I was impressed with the service and will definitely check Spirit first for upcoming plans!

By the way, leaving Jamaica was time-consuming. The line to get through Security was over an hour long -- and everybody was wanded and carryons were searched in Security AND just before boarding. I arrived at the airport 3 hours in advance -- and I had just enough time to have a soda at the Bobsled Cafe before boarding!

Trip report to follow!!!!

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

Spirit is ok ( I won't hate because I didn't get the job I applied for years ago. They did me a favor by releasing me to my higher good.) They do fine for an economy airline by getting you to your destination cheaply, safely and as quickly as possibly.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

They have $7.77 flights right now, one way. Wish they flew to Chicago from St. Louis. I'd be on that in a heartbeat.

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

Can anyone get rates from Spirit for $7.77 or do you need to meet any special requirements. Does that rate include Miami or Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles? You mentioned the rate is one way. So you pay the regular fare on the way back if you actually want a round trip?

Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

Anyone can get the rate. It just take a stroke of luck to find them at the right time. If it works for you, it is $7.77 each way. Of course there are some restrictions on dates and flight times. Check out Travelzoo.com and/or the Spirit Airlines web site. If you get on their e-mail list, they will mail you regularly with special offers. I went back to see exactly what my e-mails said; but I have deleted them by now. Sorry.

Thumbs up Re: Anyone flown Spirit Airlines?

I flew spirit when i went to jamaica last december (Dates of travel 12Dec05-22Jan06). They had a special from boston - MBJ for $12.00 my final cost after taxes and services fees came to $105.00 roundtrip. The inflight service was good and we arrived in JA on time BUT, I ran into problems when it was time to come home. Spirit is not as acommodating like the other airlines. espescially, if there are mistakes made to your reservation or during emergency situations.

Leaving out of Boston (Must Fly List)

1.Air Jamaica -before they pulled out
1.US Airways
2.American Airlines
3.Spirit Air
