ricks cafe?
hey all. im new to this board but let me give you the run down on my trips to jamaica.
2006 - went to montego bay and stayed at sunset beach. loved every minute of it. went to dunns river falls and absolutely loved that until the end when they send you through the little place with all the vendors that want your money. the (girlfriend at the time) and i went out the same way we came in and didnt have to get harrased. we also did a little trip to the hip strip and bought all kinds of things. i still wear the t-shirts to this day. hotel was great (the water slides were awsome). no complaints about the hotel at all.
2007 - went to ocho rios and stayed at sunset jamaica grande. went for the sole purpose of getting married. everyting about this trip was great. it was only the 2 of us at the ceremony (no family or friends) but very nice. we went to nine mile and loved it. also swam with the dolphins and i felt like i was 8 yrs old again (real age - 26). the hotel was wonderful with tons of activities and food was great.
2008 - we are going back again for the 3rd time from octo24th-oct29th. cant wait to go back. we will be staying at the sunset beach resort again. im hoping this time to go to ricks cafe and do some cliff diving. the wife is not too thrilled but i am looking forward to the alot. IS THIS WORTH IT? i have never done it before and was looking for some feedback really from people who have done it.

TOTALLY worth it. Cliff diving isn't the only thing at Ricks cafe. There's a pool there, bar, food, hot cliff divers , etc. Its a place where one could hang out all day if they wanted. I've been to Ricks about 8 billion times and am still not tired of it.
Welcome to our site by the way

Re: ricks cafe?
I'd say Rick's is definately something you must do at least once. I think you also need to do the jump at least once when you are there too. Plan on seeing the sun set while there too. It's incredible.

Re: ricks cafe?
Brings back a funny memory. While Rick's is a tourist spot, the sunset is great, and the cliff diving which I did multiple times is fun.
But there are frequent (locals/2nd home people) flyers who may be scouting you out.
My ex husband and I were spotted by a couple, who to make a long story short, invited us to their vacation home nearby. Naive me thought it was a nice gesture. Upon entering the place the focal point was the biggest bed I'd ever seen. Out came the ganga and well they apparently go to Ricks to pick up couples for foursomes. Not my thing, so booked, with the excuse of having a taxi appointment!

Re: ricks cafe?
There is not enough ganga in all of JA to make me participate in that, Water. Funny story.

Re: ricks cafe?
I've been to Rick's 7 or 8 times -- never jumped the cliff, but it's an AMAZING spot -- a definite cannot miss place you've just gotta see!!! By far, this is my favorite JA location!!!!

Re: ricks cafe?
I think Ricks is something definitely worth seeing at least once - My only criticism would be that the food is overpriced and not great. Better to go to Ricks, check it out, have a drink and relax for a while - Then go up the road a bit to LTU Pub for a meal.

Re: ricks cafe?
Interesting.
That was the day we ate at some restaurant behind the bank, down the street from Burger King, and around the alley. It was great food. Wish I knew the name of the place now.
