Actually...that is funny and reminded mi of mi last visit. I was in Negril with someone from Kingston......as we travelled around they thought he was from the U.S. ........ very strange, but it did make for a few good laughs!

Re: Kingston as a vacation spot
Whenever I go to JA, I atleast a couple of days/nights in Kingston.
I feel completely used to it, I never had any problems there, but I'm aware personal safety is a priority, just like in any other city.
The traffic, however is the worst I have ever known! But atleast being in a jam gives me the chance to properly look and see what's going on. It'a a busy hustle bustle place, that's for sure. It's also really really hot and the mosquitos are worse thatn anywhere I've ever been.
That all aside. As long as I go mad with the repellant, get plenty of cold showers. Kingston is cool.
Some of the best nights out ever are to be had in Kingston. Bembe Thursday is an absolute must. The place absolutely rocks. Completely blew me away. Loved it.
I would recommend street wise tourists to give it a go and stay in Kingston. But I think anyone who went round acting like an idiot would dutifully be treated like on.
