Re: Once upon a time, in a land far, far away . . .

Okay . . . so where was I???

Ah yes . . . leaving Grand Lido and heading to the West End late Sunday afternoon. All of us boarded a JUTA and made arrangements for the driver to stop at Beachcomber so Daniel and Christina could register; stop and let us do a likkle shopping; stop to allow me to register at Xtabi -- and then on to Rick's. The driver, Jack, was SO much fun! He was an older man with salt-n-pepper hair . . . and he was so sweet. We told him that Dawn and Todd had just been married -- and then he polled the rest of us to find out our marital status. Yup -- I was the only single one!!! He started asking me a lot of questions about what I was looking for; why hadn't I found "the one"; etc., etc., etc.

When it came to shopping, Jack wouldn't let me go alone -- he held my hand like I was a likkle kid and weaved in and out of all the locals -- saving me from their confrontations. He was the one who found out for me about the 876 t-shirts and that they were branded and couldn't be bought anyplace but a Cooyah store. (Thanks, Jack!)

Re: Once upon a time, in a land far, far away . . .

It started pouring rain just as we pulled up to Xtabi . . . so I ran through the rain and into the office with my luggage. I checked in and the security guard carried my luggage up to my room. I was a likkle weirded out -- my room was on the 2nd floor (just as I had asked), but to reach it, you had to enter from behind the hotel. I knew, at night, it was gonna be dark and scary back there. Behind the hotel was a whole lotta likkle small shacks. I became a likkle bit worried about my stay at Xtabi. When I got into the room, I was overwhelmed . . . such a romantic room! It was incredible -- with oil lanterns on the nightstands, hanging lamps from the ceiling, and a couple on the wall -- all with diffuse, low lighting. Yes!!! Perfect place for me! It wasn't 5 stars like Grand Lido, but it was 5 stars for me!!!

I dropped my luggage and returned to the JUTA, and then we headed to Rick's. It was still raining a bit when we got there -- and it was cloudy and overcast. I've been to Rick's before, and I've NEVER seen a decent sunset there . . . it's always overcast. I was disappointed that today would be no different.

I grabbed my camera and a $10 tip for the divers (to show my appreciation) and headed down to where everybody was hanging out. It wasn't too crowded at that point . . . it was prolly only 5:00. One of the divers was walking up the steps from the platform collecting donations -- so I stopped him, gave him my $$ and introduced myself. I told him that this was my 3rd trip to see the divers in 7 months -- and I wanted to tell him how much I enjoyed watching them . . . and I thanked him for what he does for all of us. I asked him if I could take his picture, and he had no problem with it.

So . . . here's Hector (many of you know him, I'm sure):

Re: Once upon a time, in a land far, far away . . .

A few minutes later, Hector beckoned me over . . . he was sitting on the rock wall with another diver standing in front of him. I was like "Me?" He nodded "yes" . . . so I walked over to where they were. Hector said that he had "somebody that wanted to meet me" -- so he introduced me to Easton, the other diver standing there. We all stood there talking for a bit, but then Hector disappeared and left me standing there with Easton. He and I kept talking and talking and talking . . . and got closer, and closer and closer together, LOL. Hector came back about 20 minutes later and took this picture of us . . .

Re: Once upon a time, in a land far, far away . . .

A little while later, Dawn snuck up on us and got some very incriminating photos of the two of us (I haven't seen them yet, but am dying to!). I ended up spending most of my time at Rick's with Easton. He was incredibly sweet. We laughed a lot, hugged a lot . . . and it was definitely difficult to say "goodbye" . . . but I had plans with Shandy and knew that I wouldn't be able to spend any time getting to know Easton any further. If you ever get to Rick's, make sure you find Easton and introduce yourself. Nice man, sweet man, beautiful man!!! A real lady-pleaser who knows how to work the crowd, LOL.
