August trip to St Mary's

Looks like we need another travel report...

I only have a few pics to go with my story since we only took them the day before I left. I went from Aug. 5-9. This was my first trip just me to visit my boyfriend. I wasnt sure what to expect but I was very excited. I will start off by saying when I went through immigration they asked me where I was staying and I told them and then they asked for his address, which I had, but I guess I did not have the street address. So he made me go to the immigration desk to have them call him to get his street address. How embarrasing. I figured the immigration guy thought I didnt know who I was staying with...

So I walk out of the airport and its like nerve racking because your trying to find someone in the mist of all these people. I think I looked so out of place. But then I saw Ryan, our eyes locked and it was like no one else was there.

We got into the taxi (his friends car) and he drove us to St. Marys. Which is 2 hours away, which means Ryan had to endure a 2 hr drive there and back. I just enjoyed the weather, views, and fresh air of jamaica and of course being with Ryan.

When we got to his house I met his grandma and grandpa whom he lives with and supports. It is so nice to see how much he cares for them. He lived 5 houses from the beach which I loved.

Here is one pic of us that we took.

It is a nice picture. Yah, how did you meet him again?

My advice next time: make up a hotel you are staying at. So much easier all the way around.

Re: August trip to St Mary's

One day Ryan says he wants to take me into the hills, so I am like is it hiking? I think ok this should be fun. He tells his grandma he is going to take me into the hills for mangos and coconut. She looks at me and shakes her head and starts laughing. I say Ryan if your grandma doesnt think I can do the hills then maybe I shouldnt go. He says baby you work out you will be fine. Ok can I say yes I work out alot, but its in air conditioned room.

He tells me my gym shoes will get muddy because it had rained the night before, which is fine with me, I can always wash them. Keep in mind I have no idea what I am getting myself into.

We went with his friend and his friend's girlfriend. So the first half of the hike I am walking with Nicole ( I cant remember her name so I will say nicole) I am asking her about her life and some things about Ryan. hehehe gotta try to get all the info I can. LOL

The first half of the hike I am all good, its mostly flat and rocky. So now for the second half, we reach areas that if you loose your balance getting up the hills your a gonner. Plus there are ropes to help you get up the hills. Now I am sweating my butt off. After about 15 minutes of intense up hill pulling myself up muddy inclines, slipping and sliding, mud not only on my shoes but all over my body. Needless to say everyone took humor to this except me. I started overheating from the intense exercise and heat. Half way up a hill I think I am going to pass out, so I stop and inform Ryan I can not go any further. Keep in mind there all behind me on this slope were trying to climb. So as to not dissapoint everyone, He pushes me up the incline. I make it maybe 5 more minutes before I feel like I am going to pass out and tell everyone to leave me behind and I will meet them on the way down. Of course Ryan is not ok with this, but I was also scared of having to go back down the muddy steep inclines.

I wanted to be a trooper so I tried to keep going. Finally I knew my body was going to give out, I said I can not go any further. So Ryan and his friend went to get the coconut water for us.

So after resting for a bit, now was the part of going back down. I was a bit scared. Ryan went in from and I just held his shoulders while I slid everywhere. I was just full of mud and sweat. I did have to admit I was laughing too.

By the time we made it back down, I went straight for the beach (Luckly I had my bathing suit on under my shorts) It was so refreshing to be in the water relaxing again.

Ryan went back to the house to get towels, while I went in the water. I was joking with him that his grandma will think I didnt make it back from the hills.

Re: August trip to St Mary's

Here is a pic of me and his grandma, she wasnt thrilled about getting her pic taken but she was so sweet.

Oh yea, I forgot to say that after the hike in the hills I was starving and ate everything on my plate that his grandma cooked, she was so happy about that.

Her cooking was fantastic, there wasnt anything I didnt like.

They did. You just didn't remember. And, they will every time. Really, it is easiest just to pick a hotel and say that. I always say Sandals on the other side of the airport. It is right down the road from Jomo anyhow. If they ask to see your reservations, say I don't have any paperwork.

Re: August trip to St Mary's

One of the days there we went to a football game, it was fun to watch. Once we got there Ryan wished he would have remember to bring me a chair. I didnt mind standing though, because I rather stand then be the only one sitting. He was willing to go back and get the chair, but I am not that bad.

I will write more when I get home I am going to leave work now.

This pic ryan is wearing the bandana around his arm. He had a cyst that was oozing so he put that on, so it was semi stylish instead of having to wipe it every to seconds.
