Montego Bay

Hiya
We returned from staying at The Royal Decameron in montego bay for 2 weeks on 24th May, and on the 25th of May we booked to go back in February 07

We loved this hotel and Montego Bay, went shopping on the hip strip loads of times, did a few tours and loved all of it, but what made this so so so so special for us were the Jamaican people, we have come back with such a warm feeling insidwe when we even think of Jamaica and its people.

The hotel was also great very clean and the staff never stopped working.

The bar staff well, there all great and we have kept in contact with quite a few, if anyone has any questions on the royal decameron please feel free to ask and ill do my best to answer

Re: Montego Bay

I was there over Christmas/New Years.

Who did you keep in contact with? My friends work there.

It is a nice hotel, isn't it?

Re: Montego Bay

Not kept in contact but yes met Derron and Antoinette, was also Denise and Joseph and Spongebob(aka Francis) on the entertainment team
Bars had Bradford, Patrick, John, Jerome, Kevin, Juan, Hudson (Nollis), Simone, Camille, Grant, all were great.

Also yep great hotel, i like the fact it isnt a massive hotel, gives more chance to get to know the staff and other people on holiday
We cant wait to go back, we have fell madly in love with Jamaica, never been anywhere like it, is hard to explain to people who havnt been what going there does to you, my mum thinks i have lost the plot. Im only working now to pay for more holidays to Jamaica Wish it wasnt so far away though, mind you were hoping to emigrate to America as soon as i finish my nursing but thats 4 years away oh well!!!

Re: Montego Bay

Are we talking about Kevin, the bartender? right. Not the lifeguard. Just clarifying.

I do keep in contact with them. Or rather, my fiance, Jomo, does. He just got here from JA via a visa last week. They are friends of his from previous jobs and school. Nollis used to live with him/us and is currently living in Jomo's old room. We talked to Nollis this morning.

So, sure I could get some letters to them for you. I'll PM you my address.

I'm trying to remember if I heard about you. I was there that next week and Nollis as living there and talking about some people.

Re: Montego Bay

Hudson or Nollis always called us `British` or `English` never called us by our names lol, mind you we were one of the only british couples there and i can guarantee the only ones who bothered to tip the staff, couldnt believe how tight the english were, we met a few british couples who we hung around with the first week and they would not tip at all, shocked me and my hubby as we would tip in this country so why is it different there, oh well just my opinion i guess, not everyone thinks the same.
If you do mention us tell him we said Hiya and hope hes there in 7 mths time

Re: Montego Bay

We call him Nolo.

So far, in 5 days, he's called us like 3 times. So, I am sure I will talk to him.

I'll pass on the word for you. I'm sure he'll be pleased to hear.

Not many places for them to go. And he has bills to pay. I'm sure he'll be there.

Re: Montego Bay

I've never asked this before BUT now I want info.

I need those of you who've stayed in "nice or decent" hotels, villa's, etc in Mobay, to name some of these places.

Where have people stayed that's been a great experience.....clean, reasonably priced and close proximity to the beach, shopping, etc ??

Re: Montego Bay

Well for cheap the Ora Vista Guest House was for me. It ran $30 to $40 per night depending on the room you got. It isn't much, but clean, has a pool, run by a JP who is real nice and lives on the premises. It is a little ways to the beach however, just a walk to some stores. She has a bar on the premises. PM me for the phone number.

Re: Montego Bay

I've stayed at RDMB (all - inclusive) and The Wexford. Wexford is right across from Margaritaville . . . less than $100 per night for 2 people. It's nothing special -- but it's clean and great proximity. I've also stayed at the Hotel Glorianna for $40 per night.

Re: Montego Bay

i stayed at rose hall resort...it's all-inclusive. there were 4 of us though so we only ended up paying like $640/person for an entire week. also try the royal decameron.

if you're interested in renting a house check out www.rentjamaica.com. you may be able to find a cheap house.
