I chose my last vacation spot by luck. Like Wahoo, I needed warm, fun, and affordable. I wanted to go to Orlando again; but somehow ended up in Jamaica. That was 14 Jamaica trips ago. Next time, we are choosing by different criteria. I want to take Jomo somewhere fun and exciting with lots of things to do. We are looking at either Chicago or Las Vegas.

I don't take vacations much. Most often the deciding factor is which family to visit, since they are spread across the globe. It's like a vacation, but at the same time not.

unless it's a spot that's only a few hours drive away, my mind is always set on jamaica. for me, traveling to jamaica costs just about the same as visiting a place here. sometimes, jamaica is cheaper!

when my son is a bit older, i'm taking him to florida (disney world). until then, we're going to jamaica as often as possible.

Disney is so darn expensive and while it was okay, I don't think it was all it was hyped up to be. Jamaica was like 3 times cheaper.

And, Urban, your family must be so much better then mine. Visiting mine involves so much stress and stupidity (on their part, of course!) that I wish I had never gone.

yeah i'm surprised at how inexpensive jamaica is. i just can't see myself spending more than a couple hundred dollars to go somewhere if i can go to jamaica for the same price. for me, jamaica will always be my first choice hands down.

That's too bad... I know lots of families like that. I've always thought that maybe the fact that we're separated, and don't see each other much, makes the visits better.

Problem is with having family in a place, you go to visit, but spend more time catching up with people and miss any local attractions. Kind of takes away some of the 'vacation' aspect.

When people live in a certain city, they don't always see the tourist attraction of it. I know that I now look at St. Louis completely different since thinking of the things I want to show Jomo. Before, when family came, I was racking my brain thinking what is there to do in St. Louis?

It seems for the last few years my travel has been based on where I know people. Even Jamaica, after the first trip I pretty much went back to see "people" I know. Then it was Russel, PB and Spicy in Orlando, Tia and Jomo in Indiana & STL, and I think my next trip will be out east to meet the eastern Canadian ETJ crew.

I just love meeting people and having someone to hang out with while I'm there.
