cell phones and robbers
Cell phones robberies are increasing everywhere, especially in Jamaica, on a daily basis, people are being robbed of their cell phones, and if they do resist to hand over their cells, they maybe hurt or even be killed, earlier in the year, a school girl lost her life because she refused to give up her flip cell phone.
The flip phone is popular in Jamaica and everyone wants one, and the robbers want to steal it from you. They target people on buses, sessions, clubs, parties, any crowd gathering, and at the park etc. Unfortunately I know some of these cell phones thieves from around my community, and when they stole some phones, they walk around and sell them in the community cheaper than the phone value, and the only thing is that you don’t get a charger with it. I don’t purchase stolen goods so I always run them when they come to me, and hope that when they are on the act stealing cells, someone will kill them. I have seen them in the act at times stealing flips and it is not a pretty sight, to see a gun pointing in someone face and robbing them and also verbally abusing them.
So how do you handle your cells in public?
Have you ever been robbed of your cell?

Re: cell phones and robbers
I never had that problem but I live in Canada. But I can tell you one thing....if someone had a gun pointed at me...TAKE THE DAMN PHONE!!! Its not worth it! its just a phone!
I'll tell you how I handled mine...I cut it off. I don't have one anymore and yes, I miss it. But I can live without it.

Re: cell phones and robbers
I have lived in Jamaica and I noticed that the cell phone to most people is like food. It was funny to me until I realized it was not so easy to get to a house phone or what it cost to use to a house phone and that everyone does not have one. I don't think a cell phone is worth a life but people there guard cell phones with their lives.

Re: cell phones and robbers
hmmm im totally careless with my phone and my purse only because theres nuthin valuable to me in it...i rarely have much cash in there if i do im more likely to put in my bra!! and my phone well...i couldnt care less if u took it...they are replacable and keep getting cheaper and cheaper...its sad that sumbody would give their life for their cell..
ive never really been mugged, i was asked for money in a small alley way in the city so i just handed it to him with a smile and kept walking .....
I was also walkin to my car at nite after the club, and there was a lil gang of men standing near my car looking nasty so i just jokingly said "dont mess me with me ok, i take aerobics classes!!" and fortunately one of them i said "girl id be asking for your number before i mess wid u"
Im heading to new york soon and i plan on carrying dumby purses , i hope sumone mugs them!
ok no more silly stuff my girlfriend got held at knifepoint in rio recently, she just handed her money over.......cwazzzy ppl out there....
