It's now a category 2 hurricane, and is expected to reach Jamaica by Saturday afternoon.

It doesn't look good, as it is strengthening. By the time it reaches Jamaica, it could well be a category 4 at least...

Hang in there Jamaica!

The best laid plans of mice and men...... I was supposed to be off this island and in the US for the hurricane season. Deliberately set my trip back to avoid them and this will be the second one this month. Aw well. I still am praying for those poor people on the east end of the island who are cut off with flooding, some having no home left, and it's only going to get worse for Jamaica. Pray people, pray for us.

i hope and pray for everyone there and going there that emily decides to go another way. i leave on 7/20 also and will be watching it carefully.

i'll be checking with the airline several times on saturday before i leave for that 3 hour drive to st louis to catch my plane.

God has a measure of grace for everyone and He's certainly been using it on Jamaica. i'm going to stay optimistic about emily.

For real, Jamaica cannot tek another one of those. Just read that is now a category 3. As He has been doing, I hope God stretches His grace further for us. You all that are there be safe.

Thanks everyone, for your prayers and kind wishes. It is now a category 4 with winds of 135 mph. It was amazingly beautiful here yesterday and looks like part of today will be nice too.

Oh, and JC, I'm off to N______ again today. LMPO. Quick trip cuz of Emily, return early this evening.

Jamaica is supposed to get 5 o 10 inches of rain, heavy winds from Emily. Even though the eye may be south of us, her outer body and tails come in and cause heavy damage.

Judging from the maps and the forecasts, it should be here by Saturday morning. I'm cutting out of work in a few minutes to go pickup wifey and finish up preparations. It's 125mph winds moving WNW at 20mph. It aint looking pretty.

God is good.

Emily has weakened a bit. Winds are currently at 105mph and it has changed course a bit and is moving West instead of West North West. It's still going at 20mph. It is expected to re-organize and strengthen again, but at least by the time it reaches us, it wouldn't be as strong as if it hadn't weakened. It's expected to graze the south and south western sections of the island. I'm hoping that it pushes west and doesn't shift northward- so that it misses us.

I'm always amazed at people. You would think that after a couple hundred years of living in a hurricane zone, folks would build houses differently.

Square boxes are hardly aerodynamic.

Domes. The future is in domes. Ride out that storm laughing, and point a finger at your neighbor as their roofs peel away.

They're no more difficult to build than boxes.
