I'm just hearing on TVJ news that Nelson Mandela's son has died of AIDS.
I haven't been able to find any details on that on the web yet, but will keep searching.

You know the disturbing thing about it is that in searching the web for more details on Mandela's son, I'm coming across information that several of the prominent African leaders have family who have died from AIDS.

Butheliezi is one of them too. His son died of AIDS.

Thanks J. This is sad. It really drives home the scope and impact of this disease.

There still seems to be a serious stigma and lack of understanding and willingness to discuss HIV/AIDS in Africa. I pray that changes soon.

I read the article, and I don't know if I am alone in my surprise but...I had no idea that Nelson was married before Winnie!!

Why is the International community not doing more to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa?

Why are the govts. in Africa (as mentioned in the previously posted articles) not adopting a more proactive approach to dealing with the HIV/AIDS situation?
