Ok so my two cents !!

It's true that Jamaicans are pretty anti african in general...also anti gay. I have a friend who is half Carribbean, half African and she refuses to acknowledge her African side!

In certian southern states of the US...it's true that many white people still live with the mentality of slave owners a hundred years ago, and hate all black people...hispanic people..Indian people...etc!!

In certian middle eastern countries any women who does not cover her body and head..is considered a prostitute bascially. My cousin and the other women in her unit had acid thrown at them at the beginning of the Iraq war because they were " western women" and not properly covered, there for women of the street!

Every country has their racisms!!

I know African people who have issues with Jamaicans..they believe they should consider themselves African because all black people decended from Africa. I got in a fight one night with a guy who thought Jamaicans had no right to claim their own nationality outside of African!

So yes its sad that people feel that way..even in Jamaica..that picture at the top made me cringe. But you have to examine the fact that racial issues like that exist in every country!!

Also I know African's who visit Jamaica all the time and have no problem...so just like in the US...I guess it depends on who you talk to...who you run into. Can't paint everybody with the same brush!

That is true 1st...like I mentioned at the end, you can't paint everyone with the same brush. I've ecountered alot of it...on varying degrees. I've also found alot of people that arn't. I didn't encounter it really in Jamaica.

But I see it alot here in Calgary. I think it might be because their is ALOT of problems between the Caribbeans and the Africans here. They go to different parties...and when the Africans show up at Caribbean parties...alot of the Caribbeans leave!! It might also be because being Jamaican is in fashion here right now. Alot of Jamaicans get annoyed when Africans claim to be Jamaican and know nothing about the culture. One African guy informed me he was from "Kingstone Town".

I'm ok with anyone of any culture...as long as they respect other's cultures to..but that's me personally!!

Hon, i was in Jamaica and heard this on my way to Kingston....ppl do say it! if you listen to concious tune...its there honey...check out Bushman..he got a song that i can recall right now when he say "why the east side na flex up with the west side, tell me why country man nah trust the man from KINGSTON TOWN...and the same bad vibes running round and round...everybody sooo COLD!!!

James...that pic is on of a homosexual being beaten and then chopped becuase he was "in drag"--- dressed as a woman in public. That pic has nothing to do with him being black.

on a side note, like everyone says...rasicm ( i say predjudice) exists everywhere, but since this is a Jamaican forum...we will talk/target Jamaica itself.

Im having a hard time when ppl act like this is not a HUGE problem. Not saying EVERY Jamaican is the same nor feels this way. But it is a Large population that has issues with Blacks---african blacks and american blacks. In my associations ( and it is vast from dancehall girls to deep rooted Rastafarians) the pp of Jamaica do have issue with color. I have heard Jamaican born and bred ppl tell me they are not Black, they are Jamaican/west Indian...and Quote "out of many/one ppl" to prove that they are mixed with so much that they dont consider themselves black. NOT ALL***disclaimer*** but a very large number of ppl....so Large that the ppl of this site have had to come in contact with some of these ppl.

i have been to parties and everything fine until i open my mouth and the ppl realise im american. I have listened to conversations bout Blacks, Africans and esp Black Americans that are filled with hate and disgust and i have seen ppl get soooo mad, ready to fight you if you mistake them for an African or black american.....its there

on another note...while bleaching is done all over the world from Africa to the Orient...Jamaicans seem to be the front runners in the bleaching business. In certain communites....EVERY BODY bleach the skin. Go to great lengths to purchase and use (even though jamica is a poor country and this product is VERY EXPENSIVE) So i do think the JA ppl have issue with color and being black and I think that has something to do with thier projection of hatred toward Africans and Blacks.

Now James...u want to tell us why Africans have issue with Jamaicans....ESP the Nigerians...I have plenty of them as frinds as well and they HATE JAMAICANS.... i think its a jealously thing! Cus he JA have a certain swag and it is said that Africans have small parts and reputed that JA have VERY LARGE parts...LOL but you can tell us

nothing can be more truer!
