This is EXACTLY the kind of thread I'd like to see more of on ETJ. One that sparks some intelligent conversation. Even though we all have our differing opinions its refreshing to read. I think ALL of you are right to a certain degree about some of this stuff....and Urban I do remember the Montreal incident, its still in the news here on anniversaries too. In general I think raising that raising girls in this day and age is a lot more difficult that in the past. And at the same time, those of us raising boys (as LadyH said) must be mindful too because its those boys who would potentially pull those kinds of stunts when they're grown.

Regardless of what the writer said and whether you agree, its all relevant.

Yes, you're right that the discussion is relevant. I also think that the author makes some excellent points... my only disagreement was that the way he relates it to the schoolhouse incident. I suppose any incitment to discussion though is valuable.

It seems ironic to me that on a board where outrageous sexual references are the norm, this thread would raise such consciences. Every single day, I read about porn, lesbianism, sexual positions, rape fantasies (remember when I was bashed on this one for stating my position on that?), the glorification of dressing and dancing provocatively, etc.

I personally am not a participant in most of the above mentioned threads because it is not in me to discuss some private matters so publically. And, I am not bashing those who choose to discuss them. It is your perogative and I do respect your silliness and convictions.

What I am asking is for everyone to look around and then honestly say we on this board are not guilty of perpetuating some of the dehumanizing behavior as well.

I always believe that its nice to be popular but it takes a lot of guts to standup and speak out about what you believe (or dont believe) in.

Itz very sad of course, these things been going on for years and it's NEVER going to stop. Not until the world is over. I personally dont think we are living in tougher times now then in the past, only we have so much media now and ways of finding out whats going on in the world. Plus ppl were afraid to speak of incidents b4 and often covered up murders etc and just bury the person and say they took sick but its harder for ppl to lie and hide what they did or has been done and ppl are less afraid to speak out. May those baby girls rest in peace.

Humm you geting more close to the truth yes after dem folks is gone WW-IIIApocalipisis & Armagedon et-cetra women can even be treated more appreciatively, yet for now if you want to save dem females we need to start treating dem male airline stewardises like our national resource/treasure & then when some terrorist wants to revenge us dem bypass the girls & tie up all the males & then you can discuss how should try not to look at dem young studs as objects of worship yet at least we would save. Am I geting through to anybody, throwing rocks will only prove you no see; nada.
