Re: Crackdown in Iran
People are getting tired of the Mullah's reign of power. They will unplug it soon, if Israel and the US leave them alone.
All we're doing right now is creating nationalism, and this is working against the wind of change from within. x

Re: Crackdown in Iran
Women gets no rights in these middle east countries. I think they sometimes take it to another level when it comes to their Muslim religions, until it becomes an issue. that is ridiculous! I would have to get a visa out of the country where I can be free!

Re: Crackdown in Iran
While this is true of SOME Muslims and SOME Muslim countries, it is not true for all.
I was engaged to a Muslim man for 3 years. He was from Somalia and before the civil war there his mother held a very important job with the government there. There are many examples of women in Muslim countries in positions of power. While this treatment seems absurd I do think it is important to remember that there are many different cultures in the world, and they are all evolving. After all, it wasn't that long ago that women were marginalized in our own western culture. Not to mention the suppression many people are still facing. In my opinion it is not for us to force our views on them, but to let them evolve and change on their own, as we were allowed to do. |

Re: Crackdown in Iran
You have a very good point. Adapting over time is a lot less painful than forced change at times. And as far as Muslim nations go, Turkey is a Muslim nation and a strong democracy, and they have even had a woman prime minister I believe.
