Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
Dear Sirs,
I have recently travelled with Continental from AUA to BOS and back. My Eticket nr was 0052159061115.
I had initially reserved for myself and my friend Mr. Tucker.
Mr. Tucker was hindered and could not make it. I was contemplating cancelling his ticket but then when I was informed the credit would go towards his name I decided not to since I was the one that paid for it.
I figured I could enjoy having two seats. My flight from AUA to BOS thru Newark went fine.
In Boston on my way back to AUA I attended to the desk reminding them that the seat next to me should be empty... The airline employee informed me that if the person did not show up 20 minutes before departure the seat could be used. I do not agree to this since I paid for it. However stronger yet I arrived at my assigned seat atleast half an hour before departure and somebody was already sitting in Mr. Tucker's assigned seat... which again.. I PAID FOR.. the funniest part was that I ended up in the middle seat yet Mr. Tucker's seat (an isle seat) was used for another person. Shouldnt I have had the option to atleast pick the seat I wanted since I paid for BOTH?????? I was extremely upset.
Same goes for my NJ to AUA flight, somebody was sitting in the chair I paid for WAY before the so called 20 minute before departure rule, I can only assume that since Mr. Tucker didnt show up for the flight into the US they cancelled both ways??? How can that be done if I paid for it?
I have flewn before with other airlines and I think Continental defenitly has an advantage in comfy seats, nice staff and great audio systems however I am extremely dissapointed in the way this was handled.
I paid about $350 for the seat and somebody else was sitting in it!!!!!!!! I was furious and had a very unpleasant flight back home!
Regards,

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
most airlines over book their flights so they are full...
I doubt they will do much about it... they'll just give you the run around until you give up...
But good luck hunny... I would've been POed too...

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
the very most they might would do would be to give you a voucher or an upgrade on your next flight....

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
Dear Ms. de Freitas;
Thank you for your reply to my email, I was able to locate Mr. Tuckers reservation.
On the date that you traveled Mr. Tuckers reservation was divided from yours, and the itinerary was cancelled because he was not traveling that day.
The ticket is still in our system and available for him to use for future travel. His confirmation number is *******
I am sorry if you were under the impression that you were using both tickets when you travelled. Since his reservation was not cancelled until the morning of travel his seat remained unsold, and therefore they were empty. For the return we were able to resell those seats, which is why there were passengers sitting next to you.
His ticket must be reissued by January 14, 2009 in order to be used. There is a change fee of $100 to reissue the ticket.
We appreciate when customers take time out of their busy schedules to make us aware of both positive and negative aspects of their travel. Thank you for choosing Continental Airlines and we hope to welcome you aboard another flight soon.
Kindest Regards,
Shannon Rivenbark

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
Dear Mrs. Biatch,
I did not cancel the ticket because I am the one that paid for it!!!! I told them when I left AUA that I did NOT want anybody sitting next to me because I paid for his ticket. What is credit towards his name going to do for me? Since I am the one that paid for it? And this is pretty much unbelievable when the flight attendent told me otherwise!!!! Who gave who rights to divide the ticket if I booked it together and used the same method of payment????????
I am sorry if I sound nasty but I was really upset sitting IN BETWEEN two people that didnt smell nice and I know I paid $700.00 to be there...
If I had wanted the credit to go towards his name I would have cancelled the ticket before I left. I advised your staff I wasnt going to do that for above mentioned reasons.
Regards,

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
I was informed by the lady that I spoke on the phone with that I could ride with the seat empty. Why else would I rather not have anything then a refund in his name?
I think this all is very disturbing. I will investigate my legal rights a little closer and contact you again. Thank you for help in this matter.
Regards,
see how I slipped in the "legal" comment? LMAO!!!!

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
I sent out my own venomous email to the grocery where I bought some tainted canned tuna. Today those bastards offered me a $50 gift card and didn't even offer to pay my medical bills. On top of that the customer service rep told me that my symptons did not sound like they were related to food poisoning even though my doctor diagnosed it as cholera...F*ckers!
Cholera, sometimes known as Asiatic cholera or epidemic cholera, is an infectious gastroenteritis caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.[1][2] Transmission to humans occurs through the process of ingesting contaminated water or food. The major reservoir for cholera was long assumed to be humans themselves, but considerable evidence exists that aquatic environments can serve as reservoirs of the bacteria....wikipedia.

Re: How to get a refund of Airfare
Read the ticket. Front, back, side.......you get the idea. Most don’t offer refunds. The ticket was never in your name and in the airline ticket business you have given the money to him. They can transfer the name/ownership but you would need to have somebody senior to do that and not via letters. They don’t want to do this for everybody. I think the tickets usually say non-refundable anyway. Did you pay by credit card? How long ago? Can your (credit card) bank help you?
