I need to purchase a new stove and I thought it best to solicit the opinion of the fairer sex and those who know more about it than I do....

My only criterion: It must be electric.
  • What's the best brand on the (US) market?
  • How important is the self-cleaning oven feature?
  • Does anyone really use the warmer on the stove?
  • What brand or feature do I NOT want to have?
  • Which is better, those swirly metal burners or the glass-top ones?

I prefer GE brand.

I think the self cleaning feature is a must!! Especially if you bake or cook dishes that are rather messy. But I also can't stand spraying stinky chemicals in the air and taking a long time to clean something that is as easy as a flick of a switch. Plus its not as messy...you juss sweep the ashes into the garbage wen finished.

Warmer on the stove...not a need IMO

I prefer the swirly metal burners. I use to have a glass one and overtime they do have a tendancy to stain. But..they do cook more evenly then the metal burners. What I do like about the metal burners is that the dish underneath are replaceable and cheap.

All in all...I recommend installing a gas line and getting a gas range!!!

Now if you dont mind..Please come over and run the 3 mile underground gas line that would get us gas into our little neck of the woods.

We'll have a bombfire to get things started. All that junk in your garage would be a good fuel starter!
