The weights should only make your gain more muscle but increase your metabolism so that you burn fat faster even in every day activities.
You may gain weight but be smaller and wear a smaller size.
The treadmill is awesome - I have one in my apt.
When I weightlift though, I use higher reps and less weight and I use the universal new system. It works well for me and I love it - so good for stress.
I do: 1 set of 12 of the lowest weight, 2nd set of 10 of the next weight up, third set of 8 of the next weight up, fourth set of 6 of the next weight up, then last set of 12 of the lowest weight again.
I mix it up every 3 weeks.
I gain fat very easily otherwise, but I have now been at the same size for quite a few years and get smaller in the summer.
