never and i mean never go on a diet!! ppl who diet cause havoc with their metabolism and their face shows it later on in life!.... make healthy eating and exercise a lifestyle and enjoy reaping the benefits!! dont tell ppl 'nah i cant have that im on a diet!' say 'ill have it later!' ( u know u can have it if u put in an extra workout!)
number two...
ENJOY IT! its a completely selfish activity set aside just for you! your body looks good your body feels good your mind feels and so on.... get to know your body better and love every minute of it!! choose exercise which is fun...i love dancing and learn all sorts of styles, im working out and lovin every minute of it!
number three...
set little goals for yourself and reward your efforts...
"yard by yard is hard but inch by inch is cinch!!"
number four..
track your progress for a while if you have to, once you write down everything you put in your mouth you may soon think twice about eating it!!
number five....
grab a friend!! or me! use others to inspire and motivate you...think about why your really doing it! for me i wanna be the mum on the soccer field jumping like a lunatic cheering the kids and driving them all around ina mini van!! take care of yourself and your better equipped to take care of others!!
number six......
keep a journal.... take the mood out of food! whatever reason your eating too much, find another way of dealing with it!....next time your get off the phone from arguing with your mother walk out the house IMMEDIATELY ! you wont have time to open that cupboard door for the chocolate cookies!!!
number seven....
quit the excuses NOW!... no magic pill, no diet, no trainer nothing can get you off the couch except yourself!!....its all a decision! make the decision.
yes others can motivate and inspire you but ultimately noone can get inside your body and move your ass for you!!!
number eight....
EAT A LOT!! ppl say you always seem to be eating! and i am! i eat mini meals all day long... it keeps my sugar levels even i never starve i never crave!! i have lost 26 kgs to date! u can work out the pounds lol... these meals could be..... a grainy muffin with boiled egg, a tuna salad, carrots and salsa, diet yoghurt, rice cakes and banana, pita bread w chicken breast, a muesli bar, homemade burger, stir fry vegies and rice, LF mint choc ice cream!!!
a great way to curb choc cravings to begin with is.... weight watchers choc mousse and those fat free hot chocolates...
number nine....
become best friends with green tea... u can now get tastier green tea with vanilla or mint.... ill explain later why!!
im sick of typing for now!!! but i will come back with more food and exercise ideas!!
choose exercise which is fun...i love dancing and learn all sorts of styles, im working out and lovin every minute of it!
I think I'll take this advice and just do it. I've stayed away from formal dance lessons because of the cost. But there must be a way I can learn without lessons.
JSI - good job on the weight loss! You are another one I would never have thought needed to lose weight looking at the pictures! But I did the math, and that is an impressive number.
lol one day ill show the before photos! another 8kg ill be happy! about the dance lessons...sometimes they have nights eg. a latin nite with free class before a show... check out festivals and stuff for free workshops annnd it may cost more than a gym class but it shapes your body better and u enjoy every minute of it!... dancers have the best bods of all lol u get sore in places u never knew muscles existed!!
retrain your brain!! we often feel bouts of guilt after over eating and get depressed and give in or eat yet more!.. retrain yourself to think positive.. how can u work off what you ate? what can you do to put yourself in a better mood?? remember weight loss takes time... one blow out is not a reason to quit altogether!!... start again the next day and dont skip a meal whatever you do!!... if you eat chocolate all afternoon then EAT your dinner as per usual...
number 11
BRUSH YOUR TEETH!! yess brush after every meal... or just before you want a naughty snack! u know how nice your teeth feel after a good clean why spoil it by having that oreo?! and chew sugar free gum in between... apparently the mint smell reduces appetite anyway thats why u cant eat too much mint choc icecream!!
number 12
always write and re-write your goals!! why are you doing this?? the benefits of being a in a healthy weight range (BMI) go way beyond looking hot in a bikini and you know that!! keep your top ten reason list on the fridge!
number 13
explore the markets!! mmmm the smell of those fresh grainy bagels...the smoked salmon straight from the sea and the organic reduced fat cream cheese.... theres lunch!! not to mention bargains on all the fruit and veg you now love !! just the smell of the market makes me want to run home and make lentil burgers!!
number 14
eat what you love!!! by now you should know i looooove mint choc icecream..when you gonna be naughty then be downright BAD! make it worth it - dont waste calories on salty chips that taste blazae!! eat what u love and try new things all the time..oh and if u dont like something you've bought or orded at a restaurant - DO not sit there and finish it!! tell the waiter to take it away!! and another thing..restaurants serve you! ask them for lower fat options in whatever you choose.
number 15
try pilates or yoga, If you havnt done it yet you must now!! you'll soon get in touch with muscles that have been long forgotton and you tone your body from the inside out... strongly reccommended for women who have had children!!
number 16
Get the whole family in on it!! its better that they eat the way you do now !! obesity in children is higher than ever so let them benefit from your healthy lifestyle...its fun to take them to the market to try food they have never seen or heard of before..funny looking vegetables and beans...and if you live within 30 minutes walk time from a school then WALK WITH THEM!! its not gonna hurt them! it will make them fitter! and then you can feed them more nutritious food to make up for calories (dont give em donuts incase they wither away!)
i shall Jmiss... it always helps to post notes all over your fridge and reminders in your diary...check in here regularly too...being at the gym and reading fitness magazines inspire me the most....
