Internet Access on Laptop In JA - Jamaica Talk

Being a business owner I have to have internet on my laptop when I go to JA. Since this is my first try at this how can I set this up?
Do they have network cards that I could use like they have here? Or would I need something else?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I bring my laptop over there on most of my visits due to the fact I run my own business as well. My laptop will connect wirelessly or by connecting the ethernet cord from there network into mine. I did have issues at one hotel in Kingston...but if I would have down my research ahead of time it would have been avoided. Your best bet would be to first talk with your resort/hotel to see what they offer and if it's not good enough then try to find a cyber cafe. As a matter of fact I'm heading to Negril in a couple of days and have found that there are two cafes that do offer wireless internet connections.

I've connected my laptop to the internet using an unlocked Razr cell phone with a digicell chip in it while in JA.

Cool so I can still post on ETJ while I am there...I was worried that PPM ratio would slip while I was away.......wow what a big relief......plus Jomsgirl wont be able to start a thread to talk about me.....cause I will still be here....

lololol who am I kidding......hmmm....sittin on my laptop...or some Jamaican guys laptop.........not rocket science to figure out which one I will choose...lol

Well while I was there didnt get it to work but then again I didnt really try.
I have a digicel phone too but I cannot even get the interenet on the phone.
IS there somethign you have to add??
I was on Digicels site and I got the netwrok to to use with the sm card next time im there. But I just need to kae sure the sim card will allow me to connect. I just got a no gprs service error or soemthing like that.

Its becoming more common place to encounter wi-fi hotspots within kingston. As a few other members said a internet cafe will allow you to hook up to their network whether wirelessly or via ethernet cable.

Last time I was in JA I stayed at xtabi in Negril, they had a wi-fi hook up and I used it........

Went to a computer shop in Falmouth where they gave me a copy of a disk to run. After that, it dialed right in via the cell phone.
