§..Define ADULTHOOD..§
In your opinion ... what makes a person an ADULT???
Is it their maturity level?
Is it simply their age?
Is it a combination of a lot of things????
What in your opinion defines adulthood?
When does a person leave adolescance & graduate to being an adult?

Re: §..Define ADULTHOOD..§
well i can only go by my own experience...i have always been mature for my age and it is simply because i had to grow up fast due to personal circumstances .it has taught me to be strong and to be a survivor and to fight for my beliefs .

I think it;s all in the way how you think, and act in certain situations/ everyday life.....and your decision making process....it's a mental thing..i dont think it;s all physical as in the age or looks.

Re: §..Define ADULTHOOD..§
This is a good question Blingy.
Well, we all know the literal meaning behind the term as someone who has reached an age [legally] where many options/rights are now open to them as far as being able to [legally] drink, get married, vote, get medical treatment without parental consent, etc. and hopefully possessing enough maturity to make the right decisions and being totally responsible for those decisions.
I think getting married and all that it encompasses, i.e. house, kids is really the point at which a major part of adulthood begins. At this point your responsibilities multiply and your actions affect the lives of your family.

Thanks for answering the actual question LOL

I agree that it`s a combo of a lot of things. My friend was in an argument about her parents dont`treat her like an adult even though she lives on her own & she`s 20 years old! I told her that being 20 doesn`t mke her an adult. Maybe she is the age of majority here ... but she still depends on them in certain ways (financially for one) and she constanly make bad decisions, that turn out to make a big mess & then her family has to clean up after her. So that`s why I made this thread. Because people think once they hit a certain age that mkes you grown ... whe it`s not about that, it`s about A LOT of things in my opinion.

Re: §..Define ADULTHOOD..§
Ok a serious answer then....... i wasn't fully grown until I had a child. That makes you grow up really fast. You don't just have yourself to worry about anymore you have a child to take care of. So I would say that it is life's responsibilities that make you become and adult or not. Either you will take resposibility for yourself and your actions, i.e.; be an adult, or you will let other people handle all of your problems for you, i.e.; stay a child forever. What age or size or living conditions or anything else doesn't have anything to do with it. It is how you handle all those little twists and turns that life throws at you.

I hear you but I think this is just a different LEVEL of adulthood ... hopefully the couple getting married or having kids are adult before they do that yu si mi?
I know some people who had kids early & ended becoming adults and I know some people who had children & stayed as immature as ever. So I guess it depends.

see...i dont think AGE has anything to do with it....it's all in your mentality and how you handle everyday situations.
How you apply yourself to certain things. How you make decisions and how you apply what you know and learn to life.
You have alot of teenagers that are more 'mature' in their thinking and their actions that say a 25 year old...
