"Watching" your weight

OK, I may not look as bad as the guy in the picture, but for the first time in my life, I have to admit that I have packed on a few "unwanted" pounds.

This is a totally new experience for me and even though I have "arrested" it (courtesy of di Missus), I still have to wonder about those who have had to battle weight gain....

When you first realised that you gained "extra" weight, were you surprised or were you well aware the gradual increase??

Did you immediately do something about it or did you decide to wait a while before addressing it?

How did you first address it; by dieting, exercise, or just curbing your intake volume?

Do you actually read food packets to determine the Carb, Fat and/or Sugar contents?

Have you ever tried commercial weight loss products?

How many differnt types have your ever tried unsuccessfully/succesfully?

To be perfectly honest... I love food... so I eat what I want... but just increase my excercise regiment to cover the extra calories in the food I have consumed.

Re: "Watching" your weight

There was a time I too could eat whatever I wanted without a second thought.

Maybe I am NOW at that age where everything that I eat matters. If I choose to eat whatever I want (Jamaican foods like Ox-tail, Jerk Pork, Stewed Peas, Rice and Pigs Tail, etc) I will eventually start looking like that guy in the OP.

LOL.
All true.
But now she has me on a diet (at my request, of course) and I have reduced my intake of carbs, fats and sugars. My diet is largely now based on vegetables, fish and poultry. I have even switched from Whole Milk to Soy.

That is great. I am vegeterian...all my food is soy....I love eggs and cheese so I am not vegan as of yet eventually I will be. I not only watch my weight; I watch my health as well. My going vegeterian was a lifestyle change. Now I eat foods according to my blood type. I have kept my weight off for a year now. I still have 20lbs to shed and I will by then end of the year.

LOL.
I remember 3 years ago, when soy really did taste awful.
It taste better now. And with the mountain of nutritional benefit (low cholestrol, zero harmones, zero lactoze, high in isoflavones) compared to natural cow's mile, I will choose soy over milk a thousand times over.
