Re: Going back to school, but for what?

Or if you want something free - you could look online on how-to sites such as LEARN TO KNIT & CROCHET, The Internet Site of the Craft Yarn Council of America where they have knitting and crocheting or Learn to Make Jewelry

This is what got me going

Re: Going back to school, but for what?

Just so you know..If its a good natural arts course it will introduce you to abstract designs, such as working with fabrics, egg shells, sand, clay andother media; still life drawings and paintings and even sculpture. You would learn about the properties and compositon of colors and how to manipulate hue, contrast, brightness, etc. Chances are, you would discover talents you never even knew you had.

heres a little story for you...
I have an ex-military friend who was once a CPA in Auroroa, CO, who was working 65K a year. Every time she saw one of my art pieces she would whine about wanting to get into art an craft and learn pottery. Accoding to her, she was inspird by the movie "Ghost" with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.

Anyway, after constantly nagging here, she finally signed up for one of those Summer Art sessions at the local community college. During the "still-life" drawing phase of her course, she realized that she had a knack for setting up the props and contrasting it with the lights to make some real good models for her fellow art students.

On the day of her graduation, their coursework were on display. There, she met a lady who was into Real Estate bizness. To make a long story short, she teamed up with this new friend and today is a VERY successful Interior decorator making a mid 6-figure salary.

So...You never Know.

Not much to tell, really; except that I find it all very interesting. The economics calss was a little iffy, but I am surviving.

Human BBiology - Among other things...normal and abnormal emotional behavior and how our neurological makeup contributes to this short and long term.

Cultural Anthropolgy - Examines the correlation between nature and culture. Traditions, kinships, taboos, yadah yadah. Political and religious diversities around the world. Stuff like that.

IMicro Econ - Global investment, aggregates and consumption. Federal Budgetting and the Treasury System.... financial globalization and International trade.

Cognitive Psychology - Basically, how we perceive, interpret, think, understand, remember, and process data in order to formulate a pattern of learning. Also...how we process information and consciously reject or accept such data as being True or False.

Those sound very interesting... one of my favorite classes back in school was social economics. Heck... I even kept the book (along with half of my other classes!! lol)

I actually would like to know more.

Re: Going back to school, but for what?

I am going to school for writing i.e. (practical writing, memoir, journal) to sharpen my skills in preparation for my New York Times best seller memoir (it will definitely be that I have high aspirations for this work).. I start in January during the evening times, right after work so it is perfect. I am so excited.

Good evening Alex, how are you doing? Thank you very much. It will work out we all have stories to tell and believe me I do. It is not about AT however it is about helping other people go free and being healed, delivered and set free from the bondages that held me bound/captive. I just take one day at a time now. I am thankful to the Most High I am because HE IS.

Re: Going back to school, but for what?

I think its refreshing to be able to pursue something for personal gain ... unfortunately i feel as though im an incredibly long way from being in that position. My current motivation is for a career in Social Work which will be accompanied by a better job, pay, etc.

I have an interest in many other things but studying is actually abit of a chore for me. I have been studying for the past 6 years and i think im a little demotivated right now. I am hoping to interrupt studies for one year and return next Sept with a fresh head and recharged.

Re: Going back to school, but for what?

LOL... I used to say that I would write a memoir...

But now, I don't think that would be such a great idea... besides... it would just end up in the "adult" section....

LOL...

Like everything else, sometimes you have to give it a break and revisit at a later time.
