Right to Write
Judging from the power of expression by many here on ETJ it leaves no doubt in my mind that some of us would make great authors.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that many here have written one or two short stories before...at least tried at some point in their lives.
Have you ever tried to write a book?
If so, how far did you get to?
If you had the time, inclination and opportunity to write:
1. What kinds of books would you write?
2. Would you write about controversial issues such as racism, abortion, religion, homosexuality, etc?
3. Name a few titles that you would use for your book(s).

Re: Right to Write
Underneath my senior high school picture, my goal statement was to write a best-selling novel. I actually got accepted to two colleges to major in creative writing. Unfortunately, I came from a working class family and did not have the ability to go to college. Besides, my father told me I'd marry and somebody would take of me, so I didn't need college. LOL.
In any event, it's still my life's ambition to become a best-selling author. I'd definitely write steamy love stories . . .
I've started several "books" -- not recently due to my work schedule, and my stories have been named: "Pink Taffeta", "Fodder" and "Achem's Razor."

Would you be explicit or would you just leave it up to the imaginations of the readers?
Would you write about your own personal experiences?

Re: Right to Write
Funny, when reading this thread the first person that popped into my head was Lilly. I'd buy her books.
I've started billions of stories, they are all unfinished documents saved on my computer at home. I'll never finish any of them. They're all personal experiences.

Re: Right to Write
I have written several proprietary technical articles that were locally published over 10 years ago.
I also started a book based on my life in the military, but dropped it after a big breakup many many years ago.
I also wrote a piece on my first love but it never went further than to the woman it was dedicated to.
25 years ago, I wrote a book of love poems. Again, only to the woman.
I would love to write Motivational and Self-Help books.
My first title would be "Dont Fake it, Make it".

Re: Right to Write
No. I would never try to write a book. I love to read and my tastes are ecclectic. First of all, I would have a hard time choosing what sort of book I would write. Secondly, my talents do not lie in writing....they lie more in the arts.

So do I, gurl, but you don't hear me complaining.
Let's just suppose that you DID have the talent to write. What would you love to write about>?
