Hurricanes

So my fiance and I will be traveling there on September 1 for our Honeymoon. I was just wondering if anyone had any links to good websites to keep updated on the hurricane situation down there.

I've heard Jamaica is going to get hit by Dean here soon. Hopefully it doesn't do much damage.

I like....

Tropical Weather : Weather Underground

I read Dr. Jeff Master's blog (right column) every day. He breaks it all down in easy to understand terms and even educates you on wind shear, water temps, dust involved, etc. while he does it.

Not if you are predicting them.

They are predicting a tropical wave coming off Africa in 1-3 days now. Depending on the wind shear, the dry Sub-Saharan air, the ocean temps, the depth of the warm waters in the ocean, etc.....all the conditions necessary for a tropical depression to form into a tropical storm into a hurricane and all that. It's really interesting stuff.

Ha... my bad. I was looking at a CNN news article from August of 2007. It was talking about Hurricane Dean hitting Jamaica. I thought that was from this year.

Re: Hurricanes

There are several good hurricane tracking websites, including Intellicast - Atlantic Satellite in United States. Some show satellite images; some just text advisories. Google "hurricane tracking" to show the websites, then browse to find one or two that appeal to you.
