Going back to school
After years out of the classroom, I'm going back to school. I'm not looking forward to it but I have to do it to move ahead. Has anyone gone back to school after working for a while? How'd you manage?

Strictly ON-LINE courses for Bashy. I can do them when ever I feel like, and it makes time management a lot easier.
My mom was working a full time job and doing full time school at the same time the whole time I was growing up. It's all about time management, and also I understand that you're uncomfortable a little bit because you haven't been in a classroom for a bit but, once you actually get there, you'll find your place of comfort one way or another.

Re: Going back to school
Great! God for it! What better way to advance in the work place than to acquire more education. This will allow you to have more marketable skills that employers will want and can use.
I've worked fulltime and gone to school. I dreaded it. But, did it. Once I started it wasn't so bad. Thinking about going back. I just love learning.

Re: Going back to school
Bounty i quit my job of 4 years and went back to school at the age of 25. It was one of the toughest decisions I ever made cause my job was a GOOD job and paid lots....but I felt stagnant.
I do not regret my choice at all cause it was all great experiences but the one thing I regret a little is that if I had stayed I would now have 10 years in at that company and I could have taken a package and moved to Jamaica by now. But you know what? Hindsight is 20/20....don't ever pass up a chance at education over a job.....jobs will always be there.....do the school while you still have the spunk for it.
And as for managing, you can do it. Money's a lot tighter but I was a single mom when I did it and we got through. You won't regret it.

Re: Going back to school
I know how you feel as I went back to school after being out for a while but when I got there i realised it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't get to finish my BA as I ended up getting pregnant and having a baby (no regrets). But I will be going back much more light hearted as I know what to expect.

Good for you Bounty,........what is your major? I'm back in school again after 12 yrs,...........it was quite an adjustment but I'm ready for it ths time. The first tme I went to college, I wasn't focused on school at all but now I am very focused and I know that what I'm doing is not about me, it's about my children. I'm not getting my degree for me but for them, because me furthuring my education will benefit them and they will also know that if you want to succeed at something badly enough you will,..........no excuses. What ever you do don't take too many classes at once, and don't take any hard classes your first semester, ease your way into it,you don't want to get overwhelmed. Online classes are great, depending on your major.
GOOD LUCK!!

Re: Going back to school
yes I am 28 years old and went back to university last semester. I had been avoiding it for years, especially since I already have a degree from the UK but it wasn't doing anything for me in the states so rather then talk about what should and shouldnt be all day anymore and not finding any good careers I finally went and registered. I am enjoying it now and I got very good grades last semester, but i still cant learn math(anybody here good at math and lives in NYC?)
Caffeine helps too.....
