Re: Jamaican Gang documentary

i saw it... nuttin new to me... i's nah only like that in kingston.. i's like that in many parts of the world.... almost ALWAYS starts as a political ting.. n once the politicians get wha dem want... dem step out n let people on the streets continue THEIR battle...

even in the vids the gangsters dun really kno why they war'n eachother... too many tribal wars fa NO reason.. unfortunately nobody wanna tek responsibility... dem all 'claim' to be protectin their turf, buh tha's only like 1/10th of the story..

i kno.. i been there...

Re: Jamaican Gang documentary

I remember when they put this on tv but I didnt have that channel (pissed) ages later I got to watch it on youtube and I was very interested. It's so sad that guys pregnant girlfriend getting gunned down outside his house. It doesnt get much worse than that.

The series is called Ross Kemp on Gangs.

Ross Kemp is a British actor we know him most as Grant Mitchell in Eastenders where he plays a kind of hard man role always getting into fights, his escapades usually involving his brother Phil.

This episode is like a book I'm reading now called Born Fi Dead by Laurie Gunst.

I saw it last year when it was on TV here.

I'd emailed my friend in Jamaica telling him how shocked and saddened I was. Two days later I got a telephone call to say that he had been murdered. Shot 11 times.

I doubt if he ever did see my email because the same night I sent it was the same night he got murdered.

Re: Jamaica Street Gangs And Uk Tv

yes indeed...Ross Kemp did meet some pretty vicious gangs all over the world.

but if i had a pound for every Brit who has asked me whether in Jamaica "your allowed out of the complexes" i'd be a rich woman living out of a complex in Jamaica. alternatively i could be in prison for smacking every single one of them in the mouth with a cricket bat. not that it gets me angry or anything

Re: Jamaica Street Gangs And Uk Tv

That documentary was scary. he did one on St. Louis gangs that was equally frightening. That guy has some big balls to go where he goes and ask those questions.

Re: Jamaica Street Gangs And Uk Tv

Believe it or not Ross Kemp used to be in a soap "Eastenders". He has used the bad boy image to carve out a nice career in documentary making. He did a series of programmes about gangs and also a book.

When the one about Jamaica aired it was on all the time. More times than the others.

When people tell me they have been to JAmaica but stayed in the complex - I alway say they have not been to jamaica because the complex could be anywhere in the world if they do not venture outside - the programmes like this do not help - it just makes some people scared.

Re: Jamaica Street Gangs And Uk Tv

i can spend hours getting annoyed about british tourism and how it portrays countries, especially jamaica, but nothing gets me annoyed than thick people who believe everything they here fom ONE tour operator and dont do their own research when visiting a country.

Gangs in Jamaica - Ross Kemp

Okay so on the advice of FM I'm watching this documentary (while I'm supposed to be working LOL). I can't help it....its compelling. I was sucked in after part 1 of 5. I'm almost through part 4 now.

WOW. And can I also say this dude, Ross Kemp, is one brave mother........
