and by beating I don't mean my fist... or my hand... I whip her with a belt... on her butt.

I don't believe in "beating" a child.

ie... hitting with fist, slapping in face, etc...

I wished your child luck. i didnt presume to know her nor did i suggest there was something wrong with her because you hit her. but tell me this, how is she gonna tell you how much it hurts her and humilates her if shes scared youll hit her again?

I worked in a prison for teenagers. Virtually every child there was physically, mentally, sexually, emotionally abused. Very rarely did we have a child who came from a loving non-violent family. Thats my evidence.

All respect to you 1stP for overcoming doing something wrong. Im sure your kids will reap the rewards in later life.

I tell her that... but I also tell her that her actions come with consequences... good actions/good consequences... bad actions/bad consequences... if children don't have consequences for their bad actions then they grow up like my cousin Chad... whose mother never could whip her little "angel"....

she walks in and finds him cutting up cocaine on her kitchen table... and he goes around shooting holes all in her house and shoving her around... because she didn't get his respect at an early age...

OH... and those people in prison will tell you whatever to get your sympathy... I've worked in the prison system too... only to look up their record and see they were lying through their teeth...

how do i know that hitting a child is wrong? because hitting anyone is wrong. if a person cant deal with their anger in any other way then they are weak. i dont need to raise my own child to prove my views.

They dont seem to realise that they are providing a platform for those convicts to blame everyone and evrything in the world for their outcome....EXCEPT THEMSELVES.

No wonder they end being institutionalizes,because thay were never taught to take responsibility of thier actions.
and many of those social workers who they encounter on teh inside, rather than to help them to face the reality of their actions and the resulting consequences, they provide soft haven for them.

the sad thing is you really believe there is a difference. you think a belt on the arse doesnt hurt physically and emotionally upset and humiliate someone any less than a slap across the face? and controlled and premeditated 'correction' is a little bit more scary to me than one who lashes out in frustration.
