There is a young man that I work with who is engaged to a Hungarian girl and is planning to live in Hungary with her when he is done working in Iraq...

This made me curious and I asked him why so many of these guys over here wind up marrying these eastern European women... I was curious...

He told me that American women are spoiled and can not be trusted...

So, my question is to everyone... whether you are American or not... do you think from your experiences that American women are spoiled?

I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out a reply for you, Windy. I guess I am confused as to spoiled in what way?

As far as being trusted, that would be individual choices. To say all American women cannot be trusted is just ridiculous.

Well I think it is because while he was over here his wife spent all his money and had another man in his house when he came home for R&R...

So I am sure his opinion is still biased by anger.... I just wanted to see what others thought.

An across the board comment like that, even in anger, is like saying all American men are Jacka$$es because this one guy's statement angered me.

Who's to say this Hungarian women will not cheat on him later on?

But... I do have to admit to being more demanding that most eastern european women I have met... maybe that is what he meant...

He said that American women EXPECT... certain things... instead of being grateful when a man does things for them they expect it as their due...

And to tell the truth I can say that if I look at the way I act some times... I can see where he is coming from... I DO expect certain things as my due.

I demand things that are my due as well. Just because we are strong women does not mean we are spoiled or cannot be trusted. I work hard every day of my life.

In all honesty, it looks to me like this guy wants someone he can "control" (for lack of a better word) a little more. Who's spoiled then?

Yeah, I can't help thinking that too. I suppose women from parts of the world that are behind in gender equality may be more appealing because they are so unused to being treated with respect.

Personally, I prefer a strong, wilful, independant woman. I think we will tend to get these more in western culture just because of the way things are going. Also, I think women like this scare some men.

He said something about this as well... that in Hungary the women outnumber the men so the women are not treated as well... but will do nearly anything for their men... where as in America the numbers are more equal... so American women have too many choices...

I don't think so... he is crazy about her... but he says that not matter whether he gets her some little 2 dollar trinket or a 1500 dollar ring... she just shows so much appreciation... ????

I always thought I did too... but then again... maybe not... on special occassions I EXPECT a gift from my man... ya know?

I expect a gift too; but some of my best have not cost much. Christmas last year was a candlelight dinner on the beach......Valentines was a homemade personalized card...........you get the picture. I think that is individual as well and most likely relative to your time in the relationship and economic situation.

im not sure if us having more choices is the real issue...i do think american women are spoiled.....we are taught that we DESERVE things and we are SUPPOSED to have this and that...ex....(may be why im divorced..lololol...) man comes home from work..he asks "wheres dinner" or "whats for dinner" ...my response would be "you tell me".."i worked to day just like you did"... a foreign woman will work 10 hours and still have that mans dinner on the table when he get home....LOLOLOLOLOL.(*****please dont take this litterally****) it is partly a joke***PARTLY***

we also are ..career oriented and therefore we dont NEED these men for our livilhood ....we bring our own six figure incomes to the table. I think that men really want someone who he feels needs him....also when **** get funky we bounce cuz we dont need him wheres another may stay cuz she does

I don't know many American women personally. I do know a few from ETJ who aren't spoiled, but not enough to comment on the topic. Sorry
