Help organizing a housewarming party!

Wondering if people could give me suggestions on how to throw a housewarming party. I have never been to one but my friend who is moving to my city from Toronto wants one. Any suggestions for easy food ideas? She moves here the end of Sept so I was almost thinking a halloween/costume party.
Any thoughts would be great!

Get a really good dj.

LOL...but seriously, it depends on how big the party is, and if you can make noise. The halloween thing sounds good--you can make a big bowl of green punch and get a fog machine.

Re: Help organizing a housewarming party!

I love theme parties!! I would go for that as sometimes titles like housewarming scare guys away! lol
Everything depends on how much effort one wants to put in. You can go from having friends cook to having ti catered. It all depends.
I would suggest your friend register as I had a housewarming without it and people had no clue what to get me.
As long as yo uhave good music food and drinks it should be a blast!!!!

Re: Help organizing a housewarming party!

I was recently at a house-warming party (my first one ever), and it was a small thing..... not too many ppl, had some good food.... some curry goat, rice & peas, roti, BBQ Chicken, etc.

and an OPEN BAR!!!!!!!!!!! (always a good point in my book)

we just all hung out and mingled and chatted with ppl for hours and then we left (me and my fam)

Re: Help organizing a housewarming party!

LOL urban - Thanks for the first thought always a dj! Music is never a problem, I would love to blast dancehall all night but I do know her work collegues are not "yaadies"!! We both however pretty much are!
Missty - There will be probably 30 people or so, some kids as well as her's are 9 and 13. I am going to suggest she register, she did actually ask me that.
Catering sounds good, cause usually we just always do the Jerk chicken etc for parties.

Any suggestions for halloween games? Ive been to a few parties mostly in the summer at cottages and we always had games, so funny seeing drunk people try to hammer a nail into a log!!!
