Blacks in danger of losing their rights to vote ......
Is this true ? or another urban myth .
Three yrs ago I ask this question on another forum , and I was told that it is so ludicrous and way out that it doesnt deserve a response . I have heard rumblings that republicans in Georgia or mounting an offensive against The renewal (yes renewal) of blacks right to vote in elections . Have anyone heard the same .

Re: Blacks in danger of losing their rights to vote ......
Which Georgia? Georgia U.S.? That's ridiculous, because voting here is a federal law, not a local one, and no one can be denied the right to vote, although they'll find a way to keep them from the polls like they did in Florida.

Re: Blacks in danger of losing their rights to vote ......
Babyloc, you don't know what I think because you automatically assume things right off the bat. And, I am not missing the point. You are not understanding what I was trying to say. And, the fact that you point out I am white and, what?, therefore not able to think about the US as a whole of all the people? BS.............and tired of people who have to divide up the world's races all the time.
Look.......first of all, I don't make the laws of the entire United States. What I was trying to say is that IF this were true...........the way the laws are written, they would probably have to vote to EXTEND this law. No one would want to rock any political boats and make NEW useful laws. Lawmakers use language and make decisions that I find to be the stupidest things I have ever seen in my life. Laugable beyond belief. And never making sense to me. But it is how it is. And for some reason no one will let me change things. |

Re: Blacks in danger of losing their rights to vote ......
By your response you have PROVEN that you have missed the point.....The mere sugestion that my right to vote will be EXTENDED is one of the most insulting and offensive jokes ever told. My right to vote should not be extended...it should be a LAW as it is a LAW for YOU. Yes the voters right ACT of 1965 is an ACT....not a law!!! U missed the point becase this should not even be up for suggestion or comment and that fact that it is is what "divide the world's races all the time" not me sweetie. in your comment " ah come on now..do u really think this wont be extended" you acted as though that was ok as long as the extension comes thru....the point is no extension should be nessesary!!!
SOCIETY divides races.... |

Re: Blacks in danger of losing their rights to vote ......
I am not arguing that point. I think everyone SHOULD vote. I am the biggest pro-voting advocate out there. I believe that a person should not complain about any government issue at all if they are not exercising their right to vote. Just Complaining about something does not change a thing. Jomo is given the option of becoming a permanent resident (with no voting rights) or a citizen. While I do not care what he does, when asked what I think, I told him if he chooses the option where he cannot vote, I never want to hear him complain about any governmental policies of any kind.
I am not arguing about black rights. Or Asian Rights. Or Bosnian Rights. Chinese...Greek.....Or any alien rights for that matter. I believe everyone should have the EXACT SAME rights no matter where in the world they are. But, realistically, that is not how it is. And you are still missing my point. NO EXTENSION SHOULD BE NECESSARY is right. I am just saying that lawmakers very rarely take the logical route and they tend to NEVER EVER rock the boat. Likely, if this were an issue, they would not correct the wording to what it whould be. They would do the easy thing and extend. Not saying it is the right thing to do or even the right wording. I am trying to point out I think lawymakers are a stupid lot of people who never do the logical thing like correct past mistakes. That's it. |
