Re-Jamaica nah do too bad.
House Robbed and Burnt to the Ground

Dear Sir or Madam:

Re: House Robbed and Burnt to the Ground

My house last Sunday morning at 5:30 am was robbed and burnt to the ground!

I have been living in another parish and after getting the news went to the location in Washington Gardens to see everything completely burnt in what, was a 3 bedroom home, gone - except the walls standing.

On visiting the police at 5:30 pm I reported the robbery and burning. The policeman insisted that this could not have happened and they not know about it. He went to his big book and could not find anything, to his surprise.

He then took my name, address and phone number and told me that they would call me regarding the matter. Six days have now past and nothing not even a call to me from them since.

What is a humble Jamaican to do now?
The police seem unable to even visit the crime scene for an initial investigation.
Going to the local councilor or the constituency MP can get me nowhere soon.
The welfare ministry came to mind but what could they really do?
This government's incapability re: crime is what got me here in the first place.

What can I do? Where do I turn? The house was not insured and with no justice, I just loose my $2.5 - 3 Million just like that - Just loose and then that is it - Forget it. Is that what I am supposed to do, forget it?

What do you recommend? Who do I sue?
When will Jamaicans wake up - after their homes burn too!

Thank you for listening,

CCCampbell

Re: House Robbed and Burnt to the Ground

Write the local newspapers.

Tell them of your plight. Maybe this will pressure the locals to move a little faster.

You've got a computer. Print up some fliers and paste them around town too.

God helps those who help themselves. Good luck.

Re: House Robbed and Burnt to the Ground

I am very sorry for the loss of your home and contents. I see many injustices here in Jamaica and you are right. There is no official place for you to turn. So try what Xexon suggested and report back to us. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
