Re: I love my car
My car means a way to get to and from places I need to be. Nothing more. I could really care less what kind of car I have as long as it gets me where I need to go.
A paid in full car is my favorite kind. |

Re: I love my car
Well, I drive a 3-year old ES300 (Lexus) ...And for me, its just a car.
I know that its an investment so i will not abuse it. I ensure that the routine check-up and maintenance is maintained, but I must admit i dont clean it nor wash it as often as I should. In fact, I might have only washed it twice, since the start of Winter. I try to keep the interior clean, but still manage to accumulate a significant amount of dust on the dash panel, etc. I like my car but am not crazy about it as others are. For me, its just a means of transportation, albeit a nice means. I know its now time to get it washed, buffed and shiny, but still cant consider that as a major priority at the moment. I am just too lazy or too nasty, I guess.

Re: I love my car
I have a neighbor, Alex, who hand washes and dries his Cadillac (sp?) every single morning. I, like you, am lucky to run it by the car wash to get get the road salt off.
My car is a 1995 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo. it is in excellent shape. I've had it for about 5 years now, I think and have had no major issues with it. I love everything about my car except for how much gas it guzzles. But, when I am ready for another, it will be whatever is in good condition, good mileage on it, and a good price. |

I am excited about it when I first get it, but after a short while..The glamor fades. I also have a Yukon, which I love as well but (like my car) doesn't treat it half as well as I should. Now my motorcycle on the other hand....Thats my Bay-be! ![]()

Most cars should not be seen as an investment because very few ever go up in value, so they are actually one of the worst "investments" you can make. My car is a means of getting around. It isn't fancy, but it is comfortable, reliable and very good on gas. That means more to me than having a flashy car.

But once again, we equate the word "investment' with long-term monetary gains. By now, everyone knows that most cars depreciate in (monetary) value the very minute its driven off the lot. However, by definition an investment is simply the outlaying of money (or other valued resources) in return for some kinda profit or benefit. It does not have to be monetary. That means, as long as the "investor" derives said expected profit or benefit, then its a "worth-while" investment (relatively speaking). I guess it boils down to Time and individual Definition. While some invest for short term profits, others shore up assets that (for some) they never lived long enough to realize.

Re: I love my car
And I repeat...
An investment does not (always) rings montary rewards. A marriage (for most) is an investment. Certainly its not everyone who expects monetary gains. An education is also an investment. While many hope to make money from such pursuits, other simply expect to achieve their life-long career aspirations. Buying a car, does not realize monetary rewards. If you buy a car with the hope that it will provide you with (for instance, 10 years) of trouble-free transportation, and after 10 years its still running in tip-top condition...Then how can you not consider that as a worth-while investment????????? .

Re: I love my car
Alex can I borrow the Lex for the weekend?
![]() I love my car...I have a 2002 Mazda 626...its just a means of transportation for me too but its also my everything INCLUDING my kitchen sink! My car is used for more than a car. I am involved in so many community activities, church, etc. that I have almost everything you can name in my trunk. I get it washed at least once a month & the interior stays clean. Only 3 more payments & it will be mine! ![]()

Mine is not messy, but its dirty and dusty. There's still a lot of dust on the mats left over from teh winter mud and slush. Yep, I REALLY need to clean my car. ![]()

I have the same car and love it, it is a means of transportation to me also but I like to keep is nice ans shiny and clean, I take it to the car wash, sometimes I clean it myself, and I also clean the inside out and keep it nice and fresh, and love for my wheels to shine....LOL the trunk on the other hand, you are liable to find not only a spare tire but another set of clothing, shoes, old stale cookies that fell out of a bag that was thrown back there, kennedys toys, a bottle steamer that I was gonna give my cousin that just had a baby last month, so pretty much the kitchen sink and then some.....lol ![]() |
