Windy, I was just thinking the same thing. Pretty quiet here, people must be out having fun.

No big plans here. Just got home from the state Fair, it was fun. Gonna clean and run errands tomorrow, then hang out with friends on Monday. Same old stuff but I guess that's not so bad. How about you?

3 day weekend and no plans... probably do the laundry tomorrow...

House stays clean... do that every day...

Maybe go have some gumbo and sing tomorrow afternoon.

Since I'm on topic only about 8% of the time I would have to put 92% of my posts in this thread?

Hey have you tried the ice sailing? A couple people do it on our lake and it looks like a blast. I looked into it a few years ago but the part about most of them going through the ice cooled my passion.

Never tried ice sailing...but I once tried sledding across the lake...except I didn't look to see if the ice was thick...took a run at it...and me and my lil sled went for a swim!! My dad freaked and had to pull me out and I was sooo cold I could hardly move!!

Which reminds me of snowmobiling in the winter..and tying sleds behind it and going for rides around the field.

One day my brother had my sled so I tied a crazy carpet behind the snowmobile and asked my brothers friend to drive. He went sooo fast and I fell sideways and my head became a human snowplow in about three feet of snow. I never tried that again !!

Maybe when the ozone layer has had enough and like in that one movie..the weather shifts around the world..the ocean will freeze and we can ice sail our way to cuba Eco!

Ashley, if my memory is correct they go around 60 knots so the Cuban radar (Hector with a telescope) might not be able to even see us. I had friends in Maine that use to sneak into Canada on snowmobiles over open water- the run between Key West and Cuba might be too far?

I generally stay off of the ice on my lake until it is around 10" thick. Over the years our lake has proven an appetite for humans.

I haven't but I have a friend that does.... we see it out here a lot too. The huge new thing though is kite boarding!

And as for the ice.... I HATE to be cold, let alone wet and cold!!!!

This reminds me of a time when I use to have to snowmobile to get to my home!

It kinda took the fun out of it after the first year.

I met an on-line friend at a conference a couple of years ago that does "kite boarding vacations" <---I never even knew they existed. The next time I can get a few days off to go to NJ he's going to attempt to teach me the sport.

I would be afraid to end up miles away and not be able to get the darn thing back up!! That or catching an edge going 500 miles an hour!!
