Re: The "biological clock" - Ladies

thanks kiki! yes i am very excited. you know, i was 25 when i started wondering when i'd be married and have kids. by that time, i already owned a house, car, and had a master's degree. getting settled down was the next logical step. but i'm with you on the patience thing. i don't want to be so eager for marriage that i end up not making wise decisions. it's not just me anymore, i got lil man to think about too. i gotta make sure whoever i end up with will also love him and do right by him too.

Re: The "biological clock" - Ladies

Hmmmmm.... I was 23 when I had my daughter and I still have never heard anything about any biological clock......

With me it was more like God was saying "You need to slow yo roll!!!!" And wammo... there she was.... I almost had an abortion but in the end I couldn't... Now I am glad I didn't because I love that little girl more than anything in this world...

Now, a lot of you probably wonder how I can spend all this time away from her but I am here for her... I want to be able to provide the best for my daughter and be there FULL TIME for her during those difficult teenage years... So, I am making my fortune now while she is little and then I will be able to retire and do the right by her side momma thing when she REALLY needs me. When I get done over here I will have 3 million in the bank... I'll never have to work again. And I will be 33 years old... I love the sound of that... then Jamaica here I come!!!!!

Me too!!! Wow I woulda never guessed. I couldn't ever do that, and I'm glad I decided not to, even though I'm STILL going through labor pains!

Tia, that's wonderful news!!! , I did'nt know! I'm so very happy for you!!!

the clock tickin' thing... I had my daughter young, 18, she's going on 19 now, she's afriend and it's really cool!!! I don't have any regrets but almost did the abortion/adoption thing too. I have made up my mind and decided not to have any more kids, the thought of her and me both being pg makes me ill! It's not for me anyways. I've decided to cut, burn and tie my tubes~! end of the month, 27th. It's all about me!!! I'm to self fish and stingy to have any more. Life is hard enough worrying about myself.... No more kids here,...marriage, ya, I still want that, when it's right for me, I can waite....

Re: The "biological clock" - Ladies

so dwell you're gettin' yourself fixed eh? lol. you and your daughter being pg at the same time could totally happen, i've heard of plenty others that it did happen to. in fact a friend of mine is now raising her little brother right alongside her daughter. since they are so close in age it will be more like a sibling relationship (my friend's mother was murdered when the boy was only 2) rather than an uncle/niece relationship.

yes i am very happy about the adoption. i wanted to bring lil man with me to jamaica next month but the US passport office says he absolutely has to have a birth certificate to travel with me and i don't think it'll arrive in time. oh well, he can join me in 2006. we're both getting passports as soon as his b.c. comes.

There are not many ladies left out there who has not had children by the time they are 30, cause majority had them very young or up to the age of 30, so no I don't think there is any pressure to have baby by a certain age cause they all ready have children by that certain age. If you look at this world today you will see baby's having babies.
However, there are those few who like to put career first and whatever age they get to as long as they have fulfilled their dreams they have the baby after, they know they are financially stable to bring a child into this world without the child not have all its needs met.

This biological clock thing was for back in the old days and if there are those few and far between women who have not had children by a certain age, it don't matter anymore. The reason being is that we are looking better for our ages, we are eating better, we can have babies after a certain time its not as riskey as before and if there is any complications we can get help. Remember the 60 yr old mother. There is so much new science going on, or I should say Playing God, going on that anything is possible and there is no need to worry about it anymore, so I don't think people dwell on it.

If you don't have a baby by a certain age people look at you funny, society has a lot to answer for when it comes to dealing with life in general. If your waiting for the right man and he don't come along, what you gonna do, go sperm bank?? Then who you gonna go to for maintance?? How is the child going to know its father?? Society is all wrong, if your blessed with a child concieved naturally, thank the lord, if your not, still thank the lord because these kids these days I would not want one.
Regarding the marriage, what is the percentage rate now that stays married after spening on average 15k on a marriage?? Marriage is not taken seriously these days. Most people would like to get married but from what you see going on around you it puts you off getting married you just end up in debt, hate each other, and that is when the pressure starts.

Well that was my thoughts on your question.

Re: The "biological clock" - Ladies

I just turned 30 and I still don't feel any pressure to get married and I definitely do not want any more children.

but I do wish I could find a man that was right for me to settle down a bit with... a companion, lover, friend, confident, etc... but that is hard too because I fear allowing men around my daughter... and the career issues... I am just really hitting my stride career wise... and I am a single mom... I feel like I don't really have the time to devote to a man in a relationship.

What is the cut off point? I know of a 58 year old lady who wants to get pregnant again....she had only one child.
