So I haven't been on the boards for a while...LOL I come on this morning to find the thread has gone WWEish Too funny!

Just thought I'd give y'all an update...on my lil situation.

Well, since my first post, I've been back to Jamaica three times and stayed with my friend at his place. I've noticed "dating" a Jamaican man (or at least this particular one) is a lot different then dating the men here in Canada. Firstly, when we go out, he rarely holds my hand - except to grab it quickly when we're crossing the road. This isn't a big deal to me. But I do think it's sweet when he takes my hand even if it's just when we're crossing the road. Another thing, he rarely talks about "future" plans. He's more of the "fly by the seat of your pants" type of guy, but it does get a bit hard to figure out what he wants and what he sees happening. Neither one of us is really good at talking about our feelings - but we are getting a bit better.

So far things are going well. He's going to the embassy next week for an "interview"? to get his tourist visa to come to Canada... I'm keeping my fingers crossed it goes well!!!

On a side note, I absolutely love Jamaica. Last weekend when I was there, my friend slept in till noon (which he usually does), but I was up at 8 and decided to go for a walk. It's so beautiful there!! I walked around the town and then along a highway towards Nigril. COuldn't believe how many people (ok, how many men!) stopped to ask if I needed a ride, or to see if I was ok. The only bad part of my solo walk, was walking back home an older man who was fishing stopped me and kept asking if I wanted to have sex on the beach with him... LOL

you've been to jamaica 3x in the last month? hell i don't think i've been grocery shopping that many times.... adopt ME pls... i'd treat you much better (platonically of course!)

regarding the visa... unless you've provided capital/banking statements (and assuming with all those trips they'd be worthy unless you're putting yourself into debt supporting this man), your boyfriend would have to provide proof of property/assets (house/car ect), family (wife/children) and a sustainable income (and bank account) on the island to be approved, family in canada who invite him also help... without any of these, his chances are slim for acceptance, but maybe he'll catch someone on an off day...

jamaica is beautiful... IMO Negril and the hassles you mentioned, are not.... i prefer a place where i can walk alone and not have every male think they are the answer to the "problem" of me walking alone

i wish the best for you, but it sounds to me like the guy isn't really all that much of a keeper IMO... I wouldn't be investing my time and money into someone who can't at least get out of bed and walk down the street with me in the morning... let alone the other stuff...

but i digress... best of luck

Ha Ha - I'm pretty sure the gentleman had the OTHER "sex on the beach" on his mind...not the drink. But, I could've been mistaken...

3x in the past few weeks - yes LOL, however the trips are only 3 or 4 days, and all I'm paying for is the flight...

Anyways, I'm thinking of going down next weekend for a few days. Probably my last trip down for this year... All out of vacation days at work!!
