I wouldn't say that you are stupid or naive, i mean, this is a job for these guys, this is how they make their living, u are not the only one, trust! There are tons of stories on this site, good and bad ones...

Yes I would say that you are both stupid and naive IF you ignore the blatant warning signs......you are not desperate for a man, too many women in similar situations, make themselves look desperate and foolish by getting involved in such relatioships. Please don't join that statistic.

Of course they can. Every one needs some help now and then. But why is this resort entertainment crew member turning to a woman he barely knows for help?
Sounds suspicious to me, but of course I could be wrong.
Re: Is he just a player? Been watching the boards for a while...now I'm asking...
I can understand your thoughts on your situation I also been dating a Jamaican man that is currently living in JA and the more I read these boards the more I wonder if I am being played myself. I know a lot of my friends and family feel I am naive about my situation. I personally don't introduce my children to people I am dating unless I am serious about a person. My next time in Jamaica I will keep my eyes wide open for some of the things I learn or read on this site. I know that I been having a lot of doubts lately. I also have sent him money and sent him gifts. My boyfriend never ask for anything but it seems like there is always a sad story somewhere. How he needs something or addresses some issue.
Re: Is he just a player? Been watching the boards for a while...now I'm asking...
I don't want to make a quick judgement but if my boyfriend was running around flirting and leaving me alone to party I couldn't deal with it. First of all I am too old to be dealing with immature men. To me excuse me if it seems to direct as if he is still "shopping around". I also hear a lot of stories of Jamaican men getting their Visa's then leaving the woman when they get here me personally would wonder if that is his agenda. I know when I was there I was there alone I never checked in my bf to my room. I had to chase away of a lot of young boys that were flirting and to me I took offense because I am almost 40 years old and these boys looked to be my son's age 18 some of them. One boy even invited himself to go clubbing with me and I hanging out with a friend I ment at the resort and she said it was ok for him to join us. After he had just been bragging about his house and all he got it wasn't a few min before he was acting like I need money to get into the club he is broke. Hahaha I thought to myself please and I heard some of the pick up lines quite a few times. I told one boy you can at least find a different pick up line the the rest of your friends . These were all guys that work at my resort. There was trying to pick me up like I was some teeny bobber. That is when I started to rethink my own situation.

Re: Is he just a player? Been watching the boards for a while...now I'm asking...
Thank You for EMPHASIZING so well for me!!! lol
So if someone has lived there for X amount of time but not taken the step to achieve citizenship they are still a tourist?
A person gets married to someone on their first visit and go through the motions to achieve citizenship to stay they are not a tourist???? Despite not knowing anything about the island on which they reside??
Nowhere in my post did i say anything about how i define myself as a visitor on the island so im not sure what you're trying to indicate.
People have made the move to live on the island (so i guess they are not tourists going by your definition ...) and were not aware of how to do things in order to prevent being taken for a ride, robbed or worse due to their lack of local knowledge not the fact they are not citizens!
Plenty of tourists go and dont get this problem ... i have read such posts on here myself. You talk as if not being a resident means you WILL be exposed to this kind of behaviour no matter what ... NOT TRUE.
And with regards to your final words ... indeed i guess they disguised their tactics so well i didnt even SEE or HEAR any suspect player tryna get anywhere with me...
I can only speak from my own experience ... Dont generalise and put every visitor/tourist/whatever into one box
So 'LOL' away ... i cant comment on what i havent been exposed to...i feel not stayin in resorts has contributed to this.
Re: Is he just a player? Been watching the boards for a while...now I'm asking...
WOW!!!
all of that!
anyway, ur comments "glad iv never done the resort thing" and other comments "i havent dont the touristy things" r quite rediculous!
PERIOD!
we all go to JA to VISIT..see the sights, the Island. On vacation!
i odnt know why ppl such as yourself like to attmept to "validate" thier position in JA by claiming to be so into the culture and life of JA that they cant be considered "tourist who do touristy things"...LOL to me its laffable!
when i visit, i am on VACATION and i am a tourist! even if i have seen things ova and ova..even if i have visited so many times i can no longer count, even if i dont stay at the resort. even if i travel every couple months and have freinds that have naturlized and are citezens that i visit frequently...i am still a tourist and visitor! PEROID!--
so what was your point u were trying to make by saying you are glad u dont do the "resort" thing? does that mean you are "safe" from the ride?
I belive you are alter from past members and so therefor expected such a response!
anyway, its nice to see yu express ur view as ETJ is a welcoming place for all.

Re: Is he just a player? Been watching the boards for a while...now I'm asking...
OK fair point, but the way you choose to put your point across i feel is quite unnecessary....
I came across the forum when i googled something...
The sentences that you reference, i was referring to the whole sight seeing thing and touring the island. In all honesty i went there in the beginning to party and thats it. Now with regards to my current situation i have been considering moving there. I joined the forum on this notion alone. To get more of an idea of JA from others who may done it or thought about it.
At no point did i ever say i am safe from any of this or that im so 'into the culture' so you are responding in this way to something i HAVENT EVEN SAID.
Whats laughable is your passion to try to identify 'previous' members and feel you're doing such a great job at!! I cant speak for other members you have named, but all you're doing is making me feel attacked and as though things i have posted are not valid. They are my opinion so who are you to even think you are in a position to validate or not??
