Marriage?

What are the Important Documents required for Marrying?

What will both the guy and the woman need to present to Authourities as the guy is Jamaican and the woman is American?

1. BOTH parties proof of citizenship (birth certificates, passport, etc).
2. A permit /license to marry issued by Registrar Office.
3. Proof of divorce or death certificate of former spouse (if applicable).

* The foreign person must have been in Jamaica legally for 24 hours.

Re: Marriage?

She might also need a Single Status Affidavit or No Record of Marriage Certificate to prove that she is not currently married and thus can legally marry someone.

It is best to verify with Jamaican authorities which document is best. In case where it doesn’t matter the Affidavit is quicker one.

Also, the documents will need to undergo a process of Foreign Certification/Legalization which is a chain process to legalize her United States documents to be admissible in Jamaica. This is a lengthy and time consuming process so it’s best to consult with the Jamaican authorities before hand, get a complete list of document that she will need and legalize them all simultaneously to save time.

Here's a link to a what a Single Status Affidavit is in the U.S

Regards
