What qualities make someone marriage material?
Character (strong values and ability to stand up for his convictions)
Determination (willingness to work for our relationship)
Drive (always moving forward)
Focus on family
Good sense of humor / ability to make me laugh
Intelligence
Sensitivity
Thoughtfulness

And what qualities in yourself make you a good candidate for husband/wife?
I like to think the same qualities I listed above - I'm not necessarily looking for someone exactly like me, but the overarching qualities are the same.

And what things detract from making you a good candidate?
I can be jealous at times. Also, I am terribly closed off emotionally - i don't express myself well at all. Workaholic tendencies. Hate cleaning and doing laundry. Can be financially irresponsible at times...

Getting there - hoping to make that journey with my current bf but mostly focused on learning as much as I can about myself (which is why the LDR works for me for right now).

Thanks! I've read many posts that you've written but don't know if we've directly responded to one another. Glad to be here and I'm loving the recent threads you've started! They are definitely making me think - I've been through some crazy times with men over the last 10 years and I'm feeling the same way you seem to be feeling - ready for something more...substantial

and lasting...

I keep waiting for all the beasts to turn in to the charming prince...

I have decided that marriage is not for me. I have plans for my future that do not include me being stationed here so I don't wanna get into any relationships. I'd probably marry a Caribbean guy for papers to his island though.
