In f/u to my last thread, I have a further question. Do you believe that "true love" conquers all -- and that despite the hardships, breakup, etc., your relationship will succeed if the love is right?

YES, but at the same time, I am saying yes when there are trials and tribulations you go through as a couple, not if one of the individuals is being dishonest or disrepectful to the covenent of the relationship. Above all there has to be an underlying understanding of respect for each other.

No. I don't believe love conquers all. I think love is an action (I think I even created a thread about this once)... and there are an infinite number of actions that are required to keep a relationship going. Honesty, loyalty, sacrifice, humility, sex... the list goes on... having similar values and life goals...

I've been in too many relationships to believe that love is enough to make a successful and lasting relationship. But it's a great place to start!

I used to believe this - But this belief made me stay way too long in an abusive relationship - What I finally have come to realize is that Yes, love can conquer all - However, both people have to have the love and the drive to work equally to conquer it all - if it's one sided, it doesn't work.
