Money, Money, Money!! - Jamaica Talk

We ALL have been asked for money one way or another through out our lives. Some are straight forward while others find unique ways or simply have a tall tale to tell while trying to get your buck!!

So.....what tall tales have you been told???

What was your reaction?? Did you give, laugh or cry with anger??

This is a funny question for me because I had an experience recently.

A really good friend of mine recently asked me if her and her husband could borrow $150 from me to cover the closing costs on selling their half million dollar house

I found this extremely comical because I'm a single mother with not much money to spare and they needed the money to unload their expensive house. Not to mention it was September and I was just about to pay my sons school fees. My answer was simply "NO".

As I stated in the other thread....there was this man I was dating who constructed such a story that not only did I laugh so hard...I actually sent the money!

The story... He called to say he was in serious danger and that he would never find work again if I didnt help. He was on a work crew (scuba diving) and broke a piece of equipment while underwater. He had until the next day to find all new parts to the mechanism and to rebuild it. It was an extreme situation. The funny part was that I knew for a fact he was not working on this so called job and that he was extremely clueless on how to build things. He is and will always be a perpetual liar.... and when I know if someone is lying.......all I can do is laugh.

I did send the money ($100) cause I didnt think it was that much and it was a test that I knew would fail. I NEVER give money and expect it back.... but I will use a situation to see where someones heart truly lies.

Like I said before...money is one of the biggest turn away's for mi. If I have feelings for someone...small or large....they will pretty much disappear if I feel like I am about to be used due to there own greed and deception.

The only time I won't think twice about spending money on a loved one..is wen I feel confident enough to know that they don't expect it nor care wether or not I want to spend it on them. It has to come from mi and that involves a huge amount of trust in the other.

I have to agree with you 100% on this. Asking for money is the biggest turn off EVER!!! Unless I'm in a loving, stable relationship and the man truly needs assistance. But those are the ones I TRUST will pay it back when they're able.

Oh, my goodness......I could write a book on this subject. Let's just say it's a constant thing in my life. The stories range from funny to downright bizarre. My favorite within the last few months was that they needed money for food. The next week, they needed money cause the hurricane came and blew all their food away.
