I don't feel cheated. For one, there's nothing we can do about it, now can we? For two, there is an unbelievable reward in bringing a life into this world. Seeing GOD work a miracle through you is something I wouldn't trade for the world. It's worth all morning sickness, the birth pain and then some!!
Besides, men are not made to take pain in the way we are (no offense fellas) plus, there are a lot of other rewards that come with being a woman...I think the good outweighs the bad by far, so no need to feel cheated....

There are a million things men don't have to experience that women do. Its not just pregnancy and menstruation.
How come when its really hot outside we can't just take off our shirts to cool down too? How many mothers walk out and leave the father stuck raising the children alone compared to the other way around? How come unless the woman is on the pill, contraceptives are an issue? I wouldn't trade the opportunity to give birth for ANYTHING in the world and I think we're lucky that we get the privilege to do that. I don't feel cheated but it makes me wonder why the differences are so many?? But the ability to have children FAR outwieghs all the other inequalities.

I agree with you on those points Jam, but those are all limitations or should I say double-standards society has imposed on us. I personally don't let that stop me....I've stopped caring about "what people think and/or say" a looong time ago
![]() I'm raising my children by myself and yes, from time to time I get pissed about the fact that all the responsibility falls on me, but then I think about it and that I get all the REWARDS as well. So forget him - his loss. Contraceptives - yeah - that's an easy one: wear your rubber or don't get none. Period. Taking the shirt off....OK.... I could take that to another level, being from Europe, but....I'm wearing as little as possible in the summer time anyway, so that's how you get around that (I don't like tanlines). But yeah...why is it that we can't walk around with our shirts off???![]()

I still think my son's father should take the next 11 years. It shouldn't be THAT easy to ditch out on a human being that is half your flesh and blood.
But on that note.....I wouldn't want him around my son anyways. He's proved to be not good enough for us.

i wouldn't trade being a woman for anything. i love everything there is to being feminine: the curves, the long hair, everythang!
i haven't had the opportunity to experience pregnancy yet, but that is something i'm very much looking forward to. i really feel as though i was created to be a mother. being a nurturer comes so naturally to me. that's a big reason why i decided to become a foster mother. by the way...i'm picking up my first foster child tomorrow! so for those of you who wonder if we feel cheated by being born a woman, the answer is not at all. i don't mind dealing with cramps and tender breasts for a few days per month because it reminds me that one day i will be able to bring a new life into this world. and that is truly a blessing! |

CONGRATULATIONS on your first experience with motherhood. Trust me, you won't be disappointed girl. And good for you for opening you heart and your home to a child who really needs it. Good luck with everything!!!

Tia,
First thing to do is take the child to Jamaica for a week and say the following........"if you don't behave we will return to Jamaica where I will do what cannot be done in the USA....whip you ass!!" Just kidding. We men like to think that we are the backbone of society. No one gender s really, but the responsibility of birth is a tremendous blessing. The role given to women comes with its burdens but I think women in general handle the responsibility quite fine. We men have our own responsibilities and we should try and be equally responsible.

Oh Mr. Articulate One Samba, true words indeed and words of thought.
But Tia take JJ to Jamaica for discipline you'll get away with it. As the bible book of Proverbs say "spare the rod and spoil the child" you choose.

Or just hang out with your child and be his best friend.....no need for the rod then. Works for me and my Curtis.

this may sound awful...but taking JJ to jamaican will "cramp my style". on my next trip, i want to do the things that i didn't get around to doing the first time around. my plans are to go in april and see how things go with ol' boy. if things go well, i will visit again in the summer and this time i probably will take JJ (if welfare allows it).
i am a firm believer in that old proverb, but i am not allowed to lay a finger on that child. besides, i think she's had more than her fair share of that in her short 5yrs of life. |
