good question. its always best to address issues directly and make absolutely clear what those issues are IMHO.

but im just wondering in your experiences of peoples reaction to you how are so sure the reason someone may be intimidated by you is because you are black and proud, and dont fit the 'stereotype' of a black woman. how do you know those people have a steroetype? how do you know these people give a sh*t what colour they are or you are. if your anger on this forum represents your attitude in daily life then how do you know they are not simply intimidated by your aggression? or even intimidated because they feel YOUR prejudice towards them? arent you just making a presumption that people are intimidated and that they have their own problems because of this or are you making an assumption based on clear evidence?

It is clear to me that the white people that are here on ETJ are all either married, in love, enjoy the company, love the food, love the culture of back people. Why the heck are there so many fistfights about race on ETJ, could it be because the black people actually resent the whites then? Why do the black people feel as if they need to defend theirselves against the whites if they have obviously shown that they are either married, in love, enjoy the company, love the food, love the culture of back people??? OMG its like an ungoing process about sumthing that is so irrelevant..
1stP I do NOT applaud ur post and sure aint gonna say Amen to it. In the eyes of God
we are ALL the same, our color doesnt matter... White women can also be proud of the color of their skin.. which BTW I do NOT understand.. So now we need to be proud of the color of our skins too? Cho!!! I dont think so! We got that color cuz GOD picked it for us... nuttn to be proud or ashamed, unproud.. stressed or happy about... God made you like that, each and all should be proud of the kind of person they are, and how ur character is reflecting on others, not because they have a certain tan or milky-ness color to their skin! Thats just ridiculous!I am not proud of the color of my skin, I am proud to be the child of God, thats really all to be proud about.

You get my point. Everyone has their fair share of adversity to deal with on a daily basis. So this ONE single topic....racism....is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what people have to live with every day.
We should ALL be proud that we CAN big up ourselves in spite of it all, no matter what we suffer daily. You can bet that little nerdy kid who gets bullied on the school playground every day probably does NOT have the ability to big up himself. People we need to HELP each other, not fight each other.

Dang, JC, that's the most I've read you write on anything in a long time.
Nicely said.

You know - there are actually some very valid points in this post....
Some of the questions you've posed I have actually asked myself in the past...
And having witnessed on BB9 this year a similar verbal aggression from Alex (whom I actually just thought was voicing her opinion albeit loudly) I can understand the point of intimidation...

Re: Racism - An illness or a Way of life?
On the intimidation aspect... which is totally irrelevant to the subject of the thread...
I often find that people are intimidated by me... and I believe it is because I am a "no bones about it" girl... I just lay it all out on the line...
People are not used to people who REALLY tell it like it is... regardless... I am one of those people...
Some love that about me... some hate it... but it is just me and I love me... so I don't worry about what other people think.
I don't think that people may be intimidated by 1stP because she is a "strong "black" woman"... I think they are intimidated because she is somewhat like me... she tells it like it is as she sees it and doesn't cowtow to anyone... that intimidates folks.
IMHO

Re: Racism - An illness or a Way of life?
Allow me to let it die now. Its been the source of yet ANOTHER uprising which is quite honestly sucking the life out of the rest of the topics. ETJ isn't about this. I've been told to get thicker skin and make decisions so I'm closing the thread.
Thank you Alex for making your lasting impression.
Amen.
