Re: Racism amongst us...Let's just Talk.

Actually Alex I'm not angry at all. I read the disclaimer of " no hostility" in this thread.

Do not mistake strong opinions for anger. You start a thread like this..expect strong opinons.

But a strong opinion can be given firmly without anger..as mine is.

I merely have firm beliefs on this subject..and since its supposed to be an open discussion..I'm giving them expecting you to handle them also without anger..as I will yours.

Re: Racism amongst us...Let's just Talk.

I understand mixed parentage. I just don't understand I guess why a man who is equal of both races is considered black and not white when it's equal parentage. I think to me it represents a deep history of racism based on the shade of ones skin. I don't doubt mixed people were considered black in slave days...but remember that's also because back then people were rated on skin color alone.

We live in a day where we are striving for true equality..and no more judging based on skin color. So technically it's a big joke on all of us then...because every last one of us is referring to him as the first black President..when really he's no more black than he is white.

Otherwise I would just say..I admire anyone determined to stand up for their beliefs..no one in particular..just anyone!!
I admire Adolf Hitler for his ability to have risen from lowly beginnings and rising to the heights of inspiring and controlling a country that he was never even born in and creating the most devastating war machine ever in the history of the 20th century.
At the same time, I loathe him for his demonic attempts at wiping out a race of people from the face of the earth as well as the evil that he caused to thse who sufferd under his nazi war machine.
We will never know what would have happened today if Hitler did not rise to power. But we do know that based on his rise and eventual defeat, the free nations of the world were abloe to rise up together to fight a cause that has produced many good things in our society today.
America would probably never be this great power that it is today and we would probably ALL be reciting Russia's national anthem, bowing to mecca 5 times a day in prayer, or flying kamikaze planes for the imperial forces of Japan.
So, while I hate Adolf Hitler, I admired his abilities.

I actually find this interesting. You theories test some very strong opinions of mine that I didn't think there was any wrong to my right on..if that makes sense!

No sweetheart..it is not a Joke. Its a fact.

I now realize that you are not aware...Don't you know that genetically, any other racial gene pool that mixes with people of (Black) african decent are considered Black; even when outwardly they look otherwise????

Re: Racism amongst us...Let's just Talk.

Which proves you are not open to others beliefs. You believe anyone mixed with black is black...I believe they are both. So I'm not unaware of that..I simply believe differently!!

But based on what your saying..even though I look white..does that make me black because my father is?

It would be unbecoming of me to define for you whether you are Black or White. Claim whatever you will.
Also...
You are correct,I am NOT open to other beliefs, in this respect.

Re: Racism amongst us...Let's just Talk.

Unbecoming or not..I'm still asking your OPINION...of whether that makes me black or white. I'm aware I still make up my own mind on that. Just wondering how you would define it.

I wonder how you would feel being a proud black man..if your mother was white and everyone labelled you as white only because your mother was...even though you look black?? It's the same thing in reverse!! Your theory states no matter what the outside appearance is...if one parents is black..your black. Even if you look more white!! Because if that's not how you mean it..then it's just a skin color judgment!!

I dont get it.

Are you implying that because I refuse to give up my opinion that Obama is Black, even though he has other races in his ancestry...that I admire MLK for his stand on equality but not on integration, and Malcolm X on his fight for Black Power but not for segregation...that White slave masters raped my ancestors and their White wives forced our forefathers to sleep with them, then that makes me a racist????????

Re: Racism amongst us...Let's just Talk.

Yes...because we live in a new day!! I am not my ancestor..and you are not yours..though we are a part of them and should learn from their mistakes..and the evils of their generation.

Because by you refusing to acknowledge that Obama is half white...and referring to him as only black..you are dismissing his white side as unimportant..and not as good as his black side. You are saying black is more important than white..because when mixed only the black counts.

I am proud of both my sides..black and white. I don't consider myself either as I am equally proud of both. I consider myself mixed..which is exactly what I am. I have ancestors that suffered..and probably ancestors that inflicted suffering.

I don't hate my white side for what it did to my black...because it didn't happen to me. I am angered and saddened at what white people in that era did..and I am saddened at what the black people had to suffer. I have learned from their mistakes...which is why I no longer see skin color as an issue...or something of importance, although I am proud of certian aspects of both.

Do you really think that black and white people should not " mingle" as you put it?? I'm just reading again what you said about admiring Dr Kings stand on the issue but not agreeing with integration.

Contrary to the sentiments of other Black people,I am not a proud Black man. I am Black and Proud. I dont take pride in things that I did not accomplish myself nor aided in accomplishing.
I am Black and based on that fact I associate myself with the likes of others such as myself. I espouse equality just like the other guy. If iour society was dominated by Blacks and White minorities were be discriminated because of tehir color, I BELIEVE I would be up in arms against that as well.
The pride in my color lies not in the color itself but the fact that despite our color and the generations of hard-ship,redicule and discrimination that has been meted outagauinst us, we have arrived.
We have arrived in the White house and out of the out-house. we have arrived in the Armed forces, the Senate, the Supreme Courts, Law Enforcement, the entertainment industry, the Sports arena, the bentleys, porshes and Lincoln Continetals, in the Hamptons and in Beverly hills.

If that presumption makes me seem to you as a racist, then thats fine.
I still go to bed and rise(God willing) tomorrow, get into my car and drive to work.
