With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over
with the little girl telling the little boy... "My momma told me that with what I have I can get as many of what you have as I want."
you ain't right

For all the women out there, foreign and local who are (or who has ever been) in love with a Jamaican man, tell me:
How does it feel to be in love with a Jamaican man? Is it the same as any other nationality or different?
What do you like the most about jamaican men?
What do you like the least about jamaican men?
Do you think that YOUR jamaican man is typical of most Jamaican men?
Do you feel any advantage or disadvantage being, not being a jamaican woman yourself?
1. It feels the same
2. I like the fact that MY jamaican man can cook (hell, even better than I), and i LOVE how CRAFTY he is. I actually saw him make a dollar out of .15 cents....honestly
3. How he "TRIES" to play mind games....
4. I think my jamaican man is typical of MOST MEN period.
5. I feel a disadvantage not being a jamaican woman.

well i aint in love, but it a nice feeling being with one. i feel very protected, i feel i've got someone there to listen to me and we can banter and argue its all love. hes very attentive and touchy feely. its different but not thaaaaat much from english black men. same origins really.
What do you like the most about jamaican men?
Well ive only been with ONE properley. I like his accent, his taste in music, he styles (physical) loves to stand out and i just think hes a sexy peice of man. how i can phone him at 2am and cry if i'm goin thru hard times. he will help me anaylse the situation
What do you like the least about jamaican men?
I dont like the possessiveness, its getting a worse now....like i was chatting to some old man the other day, and he was goin on like seh me and dis old man was rubba dubbin in da kitchen....Kiss mi teet, Also how he justifies himself when he is so wrong, he makes it sound so right
Do you think that YOUR jamaican man is typical of most Jamaican men?
Yes i do - i find most of dem loving but they are manly men, alpha male. control and order
Do you feel any advantage or disadvantage being, not being a jamaican woman yourself?
no sah! not at arl. most of my family are Jamaicans anyway, and i parr with them daily. I love the feistyness of yard women, but i find dat in certain cultures too, so u know. i love who i am!!!!!

I don't think it's different BECAUSE he's Jamaican - being in love is being in love no matter what the nationality.
What do you like the most about jamaican men?
Well my bf seems to know what being in a relationship is all about - doing your best to make sure the other person's needs are met (whatever that may mean for each individual relationship). There is a sense of security that comes with someone who seems to have your best interest at heart all the time, even when you don't always see eye-to-eye.
What do you like the least about jamaican men?
He seems to have a bit of a protective streak. I have always been a very independent person, and his protectiveness is a bit stifling at times. Don't get me wrong - it's not possessive. But he's so quick to worry about the smallest issues (a headache, for example), that I wonder how he thinks I've gotten on in the years before we met...
Do you think that YOUR jamaican man is typical of most Jamaican men?
I'm not sure what a "typical" Jamaican man is since my bf is the only one I've dated. But like everyone else, he contradicts just as many of the stereotypes that he fits.
Do you feel any advantage or disadvantage being, not being a jamaican woman yourself?
Disadvantaged - I don't speak patois, and i don't understand it very well either. He always speaks english around me, and his friends and family do too sometimes (if they don't he translates) - but I wish I could communicate more fluently...maybe in time - I've been trying hard to learn...
Also, if I were a Jamaican woman, I think I'd have more insight into his background/upbringing - we are still learning a lot about one another just because of the culture differences...

patois is english, just jamaican'ized
try not to speak with the accent it could be deemed as offensive

1. There is a huge difference in datin my jamaican dude. His qualities are not like any other guy I have dated.
2. What I love most about him is that he is extremely honest with everything, I love his accent, and I love the love he has for his family. Family is most important to him.
3. What I least like about his is that his friends seem a bit cliqueish, they are friendly but since I am not jamaican they kind of say hey and keep it moving. So it makes it hard for me to get close to his close friends.
4. From what i read and hear of the stereotypes of Jamaican men, yes he fits the bill...very flirtatious, a bit aggressive-not abusive, takes good care of his family etc.
5.Since I am not Jamaican it doesnt cause any issues except those mentioned in my number 3.....
