you don't love them anymore? without hurting their feelings

senario: you care for this person you had a long standing
history with them, you loved them at one point, but you
are not feeling them like that anymore to the point where
you're no longer in love with them....However, the person
is head over heels in love with you still and wants to be with you
and constantly tells it to you this.....

How do you deal with this type of situation?

Just be honest. I know it so cliche but I had this situation once and it was not easy. I had to tell him look I care for you and you are a good person. But you are not the person for me. This is not where I want to be. He was very hurt and angry at fiirst. Did not even talk to me for awhile. But we later became good friends again. Dont drag it on that sucks more then anything.

I just avoid them and stop calling til they get the picture.

thats not easy when you have a history with someone!!!!!! Im not one to talk as I have done this but not with someone who I have been with for some time. thats cruel! JC!!!!!!

No its not easy but neither is constantly fighting about it or hurting the other person, or them hurting you.

yea I will admit I had to get mean when he didint take the soft honest approach. It all depends on the person your dealing with.

I have a sit down and say, look, this is just not working. Better to just walk away then to leave a trail of lies, deceit, and pain in your wake.

Question them first. You know ask if them to tell you something they don't like about you.... or ask them have you changed in their eyes.... or say things like "you know things have not been the same lately" or "I'm not being fair to you, I'm not giving you my all" (saying that gives that person the option to decide if they want to accept less)

But, kind of set the tone before you tell them that. It happens to all of us at some point, just hate to be on the other side of it.

After so many years mi jus cannot imagine it at all, and mi forget how to dump a man. I guess time tells where a relationship is going and I don't see mine in the dump at all, so I can't really comment.
