Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Mailed off the I-485 (to adjust Jomo's status) today. And, now we wait some more. Nervous again. Wish us luck.

Good Luck! Its such a long process I know... even in Canada it takes a long time, it took us well over 1 year to finalize everything.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Got I-485 payment receipt in the mail on the 10th. Checked status on the internet....they are currently processing May 25, 2005. YIKES!!! Doesn't really matter.......we fulfilled all our paperwork thus far. He stays. That's all that really matters.

See what I am saying.....It's a lot to go through. If someone is not sure, I would not suggest even trying.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Got the paperwork in the mail yesterday for the biometrics. Have to go downtown on Monday morning at 8 a.m. It's my understanding he'll have his fingerprints taken and an eye scan. This one surprised me in the speed of the response. Hope that is an indicator of things to come.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Biometrics this morning was the easiest thing thus far. Federal building in downtown St. Louis-10 minutes from home. Thru security, visitor's passes, got in line with what ended up being about 20 people long in the end. Doors opened at 8 a.m. 4 ladies checked ID's and letters. Clipboard with paper to fill out. Return clipboard with ID. 5 minutes later, they called Jomo in. Took a 10 card of his fingerprints, plus an additional index print. Took his picture. Stamped letter that he was processed today. Out of there in a total of 15 minutes. (Surprising, since his sister said it was an all day ordeal for her in NY.) Only an hour late to work for me.

Next thing on this agenda should be our Immigration interview. Unless, we decide to apply for advance parole so he can travel back to JA soon.

Still waiting on work permit so he can get a social security number and then a driver's license and social security card.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Good to see you and Jomo's progress...Just wanted to let you guys know that our K-1 application was APPROVED yesterday, so I suppose that it will be off to the consulate in Jamaica soon....I guess now I can really start to get the rest of our things together...I hope we can have all of this done by the end of the year!! And you're SO right Jomo---I wouldn't even begin to mess with this stuff if I wasn't 250% sure of what I was doing.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

I, did you get the approval letter (or see it on the web site)? If that is where you are, it now goes to the National Visa Processing Center. It's about 3 more weeks till it heads to JA. Let me know.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

I laughed so hard at your sending money post. One of the bright spots of yesterday.

No, not for you, Teach, although, I know you will need it soon, as well.....(smile)

One of the newbies just asked me a question. Better to have them read then me say it all over again. Thus, the bump.

I have many friends like that in JA, Teach. And those that want to come, sometimes come for honorable reasons. I truly do understand.
