Interesting. I suppose that is true. All I have to do is go to JA and file some papers and live for a while and I have my citizenship.

Exactly. people seem to forget that a lot of people can 'use' jamaican people for their land and opportunity to live there just as much as they get accused of using foreigners for visas. i certainly didnt 'use' my ex, i loved him very much but i fully admit the fact that he lived exactly where i wanted to be was definitely a bonus. having said that i would have lived in the north pole with him (and i hate the cold! lol).

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Truth be told my man doesn't really want to come here, but I can't go there and I am the one pushing for him to come here...he is trying to do it cause I want him to....he has to give up a lot to do it...

and BTW sometimes the same reasons they cannot get a travel visa or any other visa...marrying them won't fix that...they will still turn you down.
all you need is one stupid little blemish on your record from however long ago and forget it...so sometimes people do what they have to do...and the real shame is if you have money that whole process doesnt matter....bitter subject for me right now!

I don't think there is anything wrong with it either Lady, I only added the things I did because I thought the thread should mention it isn't the only way...and it seems like when ever I bring it up everyone jumps all over like I am putting that method down...I don't judge any one...for some folks the fiance visa is not an option....and if it worrks for someone they should do it, but what if you can't

thats cool i hear you. i understand what you mean by him not wanting to go to the US too. lots of people ive met (including my ex) just dont want to leave Jamaica. the family unit (i believe) is a strong tie in Ja and they look after each other. in my experience of england people are more independent so leaving family behind isnt such a big deal. (or maybe thats just me lol)

I've been bitter about a lot of parts of the process for years now.

Agreed. My bf & I are not planning anything yet, but we've talked and for a while he was not interested in "movin ova seas" (and I wasn't looking to move to JA). Over the last year we have both moved closer to the middle and are willing to compromise a bit - maybe we split our time in each country? spend summers in JA? How would that work for visa issues?

Depending on what visa you would go for, it would make a little difference. After he gets a green card, it makes little difference except if he would want to naturalize. They look at actual time spent in the US before they will process the naturalization. All that would do is set it back however many months you spent out of the country.

anyway. on this site 99% of ppl here talking bout "how to bring him here" "whats the visa process" and hten you got Teach saying her man is coming and she aint got to marry him for him to get here and everybodyup in arms BUT you act like this is not the norm around here.....

my question is if hte man dont need you for a visa, would he be marrying you? simple.

i personally would not want to marry under those circumstance of someone needing me for something so importand cuz you open yoursef up to be used...

and BTW ...my ties to JA and the West Indian community are long and deep baby, so assuming im not...i speak on what i know and what i have seen.....but ima let you continue to ASSUME what you want..

You assume alot as usual - and your ties to JA and the West Indian community may be long and deep - but time and time again, you prove yourself IGNORANT. (and you might want to invest in spell check, it's a great invention).

While Teach's man may be able to come up a different way - try staying here permanently without having a specialized career, an employment sponsor, whatever - that isn't an easy task - Ask my friends from the UK who were here 17 years illegally before they managed to adjust status through a loophole in the immigration system - Ask any of them how easy life was when they had to live it under the radar of immigration - No jobs with benefits, no health insurance, etc.... Reality is, one of the few ways to move to another country is to immigrate through marriage - because it gives you the ability to establish a life together, to work, to get a SSN, to have security without leaving the country - The reason you see a lot of discussion on the subject here is due to the fact that this is a site about EVERYTHING JAMAICAN - the subjects come up if someone does a google search - Try it, you might learn something.

If two people meet, fall in love, live in different countries, and want to spend a life together - one or the other of them has to move - doesn't matter what country you are moving to. No one on here has ever said that the reason they are getting married is because of the immigration factor, and you assume that a JA man cannot fall in love with a US or UK woman without it being about love - Maybe they are sick and tired of bitter women like you with "long and deep" ties to the community -

Maybe two people simply fell in love. Happens all the time - Same way that people use people all the time, doesn't matter where you are, where you are from - a user is a user, and just because immigration enters the picture, it doesn't automatically make that the primary focus of the relationship.

its not that i dont have spell check...i just dont have time to go back...and im not writig an essay...ignorant...honey, im very knowlegable..so that def of ignorant does not even apply...( to this sublject that is) LOL
u think i dont know this information? sad state...but is that a reason to marry somebody...cuz its hard for them to get a visa.....if you cool with somebodly marrying you for that...then good for you right, everything jamacian....not everyting bout going to ja find a man and bring him here...which is bout 80 percent of ppl here....THERE IS MORE TO JA THAN THAT!!!
Love and marriage are two verydifferent things that dont neccessarily go hand and hand. i am a beliver in love..i am not a beliver in being used and being stupid. nor am i a beliver in marryig somebody to get thema VISA.....when i was married..i wasntunder the shroud of this nonsence...but to each thier own...just when it blows in the face..noblody supposed to STH at it all?

and for what reason do i have to be bitter? i have never even been remotely interested in a jamaican man b4.....or did you assume that i did?.....in fact, i might be one of the ONLY ones her NOT sweating some JA man...i have an Antiguan man with citiezineship...of which he got ON HIS OWN!!!

but i do understand yu might be a little sensitive cuz you might be one of ones that we (my jamaican woman freinds) love to laff at...LOLOLOL

pure entertainment! and nuff jokes
