Well I just meant the fiance visa might be faster then finding a way here on there own.....didnt meant it was fast and I don't need to read up on it cause I don't need to go that route.

Yeah I know a ton of Jamaicans here in Nj and Ny that got here on their own through family sponsors and tings...they didn't have to marry to do it.

The key to it is sponsors and things - Not every Jamaican has relatives in the US, and that is not an easy process either - there are lots of ways to immigrate, but none of them are quick and painless - Even the work visas are getting more difficult to get.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

I never said It was easy to get here I just said there are other ways.....and in my case my man prefers to get here on his own so that no one in my family ever has to wonder if thats what he wanted from me...so I meant that I must be lucky not to have to research and do paperwork because he is doing it all on his own.

Correct me if I'm wrong Teach but isn't his case different? He's been to the states before right.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Yes he has and his family lives here...

Here is the thing that I was tryna say.....That the Fiance visa is not the only way for Jamaicans to come here....I am not saying that pepolple shouldn't do it, but for me I don't have to and truth is thats just better for me....I don't judge anyone for doing what ever they want...and I don't make light of the process, but Fiance Visa is NOT the only way...thats all.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

My husband got here on his own (i met him in NJ). We have tried to help other members of his family to no avail. Its just hard! Teach, what if he doesn't get in on the first try? Are you gonna set a time limit for trying? Isn't your love more important than what family memebers might think?

I am not worried about what my family thinks.....he is. And I am also not worried about how he gets here.....it will happen. A time limit...we have been together for two years....and we will be together forever...no time limit on love....

Not sure who is posting on those "real Caribbean websites," but I'd love to know their secrets. its getting harder every year. The temporary work force visas (summer work in resort towns) were cut back two years ago from 600,000 to 200,000.
Girl, your problem is one I reference in my head when I talk about visas being hard to come by. Hoops and more hoops! And, most don't end as well as your hubby's.

(btw....I hope things are well with your and yours!)

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Tired of mincing words on this subject I just mean I DONT HAVE TO MARRY HIM TO GET HIM HERE... you seem to feel the need to contradict every thing I say...Try reading my posts I am just saying that marrying some one is not the only way they can come and some might be interested in knowing that theere are other ways besides YOUR way!

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

The irony is not lost on me....that the reason it is so difficult to get here (by any means) is BECAUSE OF people like my husband and "D" (I am assuming he's going to come on a temporary visa and STAY-if I assumed wrong, sorry!) and many many others. People who promise the US government one thing and do something else completely. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy that di youngster "did what he had to do" to be here, but lets not kid ourselves. There is a statistical reason why some countries don't get many visas. It has to do with the rate of "return" to home countries, as and when dictated by their visas. The more people that get over on the government, the less that will be allowed the priveledge to do so in the future. Jomo and JG are actually the only ones following the law here. Isn't it ironic????

All I can say to that is yes you are wrong to assume D is breakin the law....he isn't and how he is getting here and what he is doing is his business thats why I have not posted it....but its been in the works for a long time....and it may take a lot more time...I dunno but I am willing to wait as long as I have to.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

If he is coming over on any other visa than a fiance visa, AND he already has plans to marry you, it is visa fraud. The law is very clear on that. Not judging, just telling you the law.
