Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

I am also determined to do it myself.. Its not easy for anybody but I will get there sum how.. I think that the reason the VISA process is harder for a lot of people (partially including me, is lack of education) I applied to a CA VISA & got denied because of my the level of my education.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

GG i cant argue with that....they seem to make determinations depending on your potenitial to contribute to this society...

im not saying it is fair, or right or wrong, but i can be done and getting married is not the ONLY way!..

but i KNOW you will make it cuz you have the drive and tenacity to do so....and good luck..

PS!...u have better chance then someone coming from Haiti---education excluded!

What kind of visa are you talking about, GG? Visitor? Worker?

A lot of it is ties to your country. They want to make sure you will be going back because those types of visas are non-immigrant. Ties like property, business, family (taking Nigel with you sort of negates that), bank accounts, etc.

I wouldn't consider it "riding" anyone's coat tails if you're in a relationship. That's what couples do....they be together. And in the cases of Jamaica VS America I think we all know its easier to prosper in America, so that's the smarter of the two.

I agree completely, Jomo - Not only Jamaican, but many other countries - Coming to visit is one thing, being able to move, establish a life, get a job (legally) is something totally different. Unless you have experienced the immigration process directly, I don't think it's a subject that you can fully speak on because what goes on behind the scenes is unreal.

I agree with you as well, JC - on the first part, at least -

Amen to that. When you go through it, you know. And, even then, you can't believe the hoops.

Hey, RD.....are you the one who has been married for almost 2 years?

If so, did you do a visa? I'm asking cause I am wondering if you are lifting conditions soon.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

All I know about it is that there's a lot of bending and flexing when thinking about the whole sponsorship thing. When we were getting our stuff together a couple years ago, Russel was gonna move up here against his will.....for the relationship, because of reasons that kept me from moving to the states. Of course I'd rather be in Florida....DUH its warmer. But you do what you gotta do for the relationship.
