Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Jg - when we filed for my ex's work permit (after we were married) it took 84 days to receive the permit and then it was only good for 1 yr....we almost had to get the work permit renewed before our appt with Immigration for his green card, which would have delayed his work permit again. Luckily, our appt for his green card was about 15 days prior to running out and they issued the green card the same day as our appt....hang in there.

Honestly, it is our first disappointment and not one that means all that much except he can't go out and get a job. Which, makes us planning a trip to Vegas that much easier to work around just my work schedules. See, always a bright lining to every cloud. Anyhow, gonna see what they have to say tomorrow. And then go from there. If it involves more paperwork and more $$, so be it. Gonna do what we have to do, regardless.

Thanks, girls. I will tell all tomorrow morning.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Security and the lady in Immigration was so darn funny and nice this morning, it relieved my tension and I did not wish to bodily harm anyone. She said when we married, we voided out the fiance visa and made the I-765 void as well. (Still wondering why they took so long and asked for more info. anyhow). Anyhow, she helped me fill out the places in the form I was unsure about and told me to attach all the documentation again, attach another $180, and mail it in. Jomo's a bit down. I say, just another bump in the road.

On the bright side, his having a job and having to ask off already won't be an issue if we do decide to go to Las Vegas in December. Gotta keep smiling.............

So how long do you wait now?

Did you ask why they continued to process if it was void? I would have still bit her head off.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

90 days at least. Since Monday is a holiday here, that will start Tuesday or so.

No, I thought of it after the fact. I went in there in a defensive mood; but like I said, they were friendly and joking in security and it just got better from there. No long line. Taken early and right as we walked in. Nice, helpful lady. I just couldn't keep up my anger.

I am having a hard time believing he tried either. Did you get him drunk first?

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

Had to go down to the Federal Building again today. Jomo had his index fingerprint and picture taken again....this time for the work permit. Hoping it goes quickly now.

Re: How do u bring someone from JA over to the States?

YIKES....checked dates

I-485 (adjustment of status-permanent papers) as of Oct. 12th, they are processing Jan. 30th .....we got our's in August 1st.

I-765...they are processing July 30th. We got our's in Sept. 15th. 6 weeks on that one??????? Would be ok, I suppose. Not that we could do anything either way anyhow.

Hate the waiting.

He's been talking about 2 jobs. Not sure that is our answer. I need to see him sometime.
